I've got my pump pulled apart getting it ready for my split bowl/droop conversion. I figured I would have the suction housing re-powder coated, however I was told that due to the heat from baking the suction housing that it can either warp the housing or throw off the housing alignment.

I understand by heating any kind of metal it can fuck up the shape of it, however Berkeley has been powder coating these things for years...they must know of some way to powder coat these things without distorting the shape and throwing off the alignment of everything.

Or am I missing something here?

its not gonna get hot enough to warp the suction piece. make sure you strip it completely and prebake it for 20-25 minutes at 300 to let the gas outta the alum. if you don't and let them strip it without prebaking the part, your pc job will be ugggllllly. i do my own pc work at home now :D my wife hooked me up last xmas with a nice pc kit, and i hooked her up with a new oven on valentines day:D so i took the old oven:D:D:D
