Let me call Lee and see if they make Schiada speaker covers in 6.5's.. I currently have 5.5's in the back of the boat and 6.5's in the front. I'm looking to change all of them out..

cool deal...l

let me know.

I am actually really intrested in hearing these and I was gonna put them in my car. The reviews have been pretty favoarable on the caraudio sites for a budget speaker system.

Also intrested in trading for a decent 4 channel working amp of equal value.

I have some ideas on the speaker box but would like the sub to mock everything up. Shouldn't be that hard. I need to find a cheap/decent amp that will fit under the seat on the box.

This is a smoking deal on a good amp but I can't find the dimensions anywhere to make sure it fits.

Also need to grab some pods. The guy that did Davins stereo makes pods 100.00 a pair and they looked good.I am gonna do 6.5's in teh front and 6x9's in the bed area.

Still debating the 2nd battery deal and how I want to set it up.

Also need a dash plate and some switches for the lights/amp/etc...

Ya I'm trying to figure out what to do also. I like the ssv pods and sub enclosure but I really don't feel like dumping $400+ just for enclosures. I wanna put the second battery under the seat and I need to figure out where to put the amp to keep it clean and dry

I was thinking of buildinthe the box so the sub faced the motor. The bottom board would be londer and I would seal/bolt that against the bottom of the chassis. I think the amp could be mounted behind the sub box and be some what free from dirt/sand. Water will still not be your friend.

We could also so a down firing sub under the hood and you could mount the amp on the top.

I agree on the 400.00 dollar thing. I think it would honestly be more than that through SSV unloaded.

I figure 200.00 in pods and do the rest my self. Battery and isolator are still pricey unless you can find used.

Where does Davin get his pods? Are they cheaper? Battery and isolater are definitely not gonna be cheap. I'm thinking of just doing the stereo only to the second battery and just charging it after every use lke I do in the boat.

Just ordered the amp.... same one ssv sells for 199.00

http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_7052_EFX+HD4300.html

I have heard the ssv systems and they sound good.

DG gets them from a stereo shop about 2 miles from his house. I forget the name but its in ontario. They look the same as SSV's but are a little less. Davin things there built better.

I have debated doing the same with a stand alone battery like our boat(nice not having to worry about starting..when the music stops the party is over). wire 2 of my lights off the factory battery like now and wire the extra 2 lights and stereo off an optima. Only issue I see is if out in the dunes I would have to run the genny to charge the battery.

Ya that could be a problem. I wonder how long the battery will last playing the stereo with just the stereo wired to it though? I have to get a new stock battery too. Theres another $150.:rolleyes:

I imagine it will last you a decent amount playing at mellow volumes. At kill fish volumes it could probably last 2 hours give or take?

You kill the stock battery?

I have been searching craigslist for a optima. I would then like to fab my own under hood mount. See how that goes and then add the isolator if need be.

I have the same issue. There was a dash on craigslist IE for 75.00.

You gonna do an amp? With your stereo you could fade the sub to almost nothing when trying to conserve battery.

Snap some pics of the equipment. What model are the subs?

If I decide to do the sub then I'll get an amp. Honestly it loud enough right now but will sound better with the speakers facing me instead of down at the floor. I have an amp already but it is only a 2 channel.

Maybe later. Honestly I just don't want to deal with getting a second battery and all that BS. I can live with the way it sounds with just the 2 6x9's. They'll be even better in the pods facing me too. Heres a pic of the subs. Couldn't find the model number but they have a huge magnet and they are 4 ohm dual voice coil. They used to hit pretty hard when I had them in my old truck.

I've got some spray rubber that we used ot "Fix" roof leaks...just like Rhino liner but grey. It's what I used on the speaker box between the seats in our old Rhino. I think it would work really well for water proofing, not sure if it would absorb sound and deaden the boom??

I think it was only 150 watts. I want to say the amp was a 4 x 100 but with only 50 watts at 4 ohms to the 5x7's and the two rear channels bridged to the sub. Just had to build a box that got as close as possible to the correct cu ft. First box was too small and didn't hit worth a $hit.

Ya I ordered the SSV pods for my 6x9's which should make the system 10 times better since the speakers won't be facing the ground. I'm just gonna get one of those Odyssey batteries to replace the stocker since I think my stock one is fried.

BTW, you talk to Scott lately? I know he was having problems with his powdercoater so I didn't want to bug him last week. Gonna try calling him today.

Those pods are really nice I'll be curious to see how it sounds compared to how it used to.

I think my battery might be toast too. Scott has has to put it on the charger everytime in order to move it.

Talked to him on Saturday I rode my bike over to his shop to see what was up. He was supposed to have gotten my LT kit back from PC'ing and installed it all on Saturday but the PC'r dropped the ball on him again. I told him it might be time to find a new PC'r.
