View Full Version : Slip In Silencers, Clamp Bolt Location?

I would like to install my slip in silencers, in a sano way, but not have any "dirty" water drip on my stern deck.

The headers are Basset Traditional Style, Long Collector, with Megaphone tips (4 to 5"). I will drill the hole approximately 9.5 inches from the tips, but I am in dilemma about where to place the hole. Placing it under neath would surely hide it, but I am concerned some of the dirty water from the headers will land on the freshly waxed deck.

Anyone have any experience with this?

There shouldn't be that much water coming out of your headers?

Most the jets I've seen literally just have a bit of water vapor coming out the back of them?

I sort of suspected that, I think the overwatering was due to having a restrictor AN fitting on the port side, and a straight through fitting on the starboard. I chased the water flow rate around watching both headers.

]I think that with the new hand valve in use, and two equal rate fittings installed, that the water drip may not even be a problem.

And the more I think about it, the "dirty" water sounds like I'm maybe running a little fat.

Too much water aside I put the "retainer bolt holes" at 3 oclock (L) and 9 oclock (r) (facing each other to the inside) I never use "jets" or restrictors but always "limit the water to an absolute minimum mist by virtue of a lever ball valve or other control (preferably mounted under the drivers seat Call if I can help Tom

Thanks, good advice all.

Tom, sure you can help me out, get me a sweet discount on an American Turbine Upgrade Kit for My little Jacuzzi 12YJ. :D

I have balanced it (on an IRD Balancer) and pulled t it as tight as I should go .007" at the wear ring, this is a tight, smooth little pump, but I imagine what I could do with a more capable base package.

I got rid of my ball valve, and thought I'd try the Hardin Marine Hand Valve, it has three restrictor sizes, and related detents. If these ports are not enough, I can always drill them out.
