Yeah I caught Obama's news conference. He was 'pathetic' sp in his reply about the arrest. It was totally bullshit what Obama said.

The unfortunate thing about Obama is he doesn't know what he is doing.

He's a big phony.

He's quick to throw down the race card and get very vocal in a situation he knows very little details about. It further divides a nation on the brink of collapse. It is disturbing that he remains silent on more serious issues like the recent troop deaths in Afghanistan, revised rules of engagement, and the captured soldier held by the Taliban.

It is amazing and sad that this pathetic sackless piece of shit has a 56% approval rating.

I wonder how that professor would've felt if his house was actually burgalarized? He would've been outraged if it took the police 5 minutes to show up. But, someone calls and reports that his house is being broken into, the cops arrive and find someone standing in the entry way, they have no idea he's the home owner, the police do there jobs and detain him, he goes f-ing ballistic and wont cooperate, reportedlyu yelling obsenities at the police, and the cops are at fault. What a f-ing joke.

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The white police sergeant criticized by President Barack Obama for arresting black scholar Henry Louis Gates Jr. in his Massachusetts home is a police academy expert on understanding racial profiling.

Cambridge Sgt. James Crowley has taught a class about racial profiling for five years at the Lowell Police Academy after being hand-picked for the job by former police Commissioner Ronny Watson, who is black, said Academy Director Thomas Fleming.

"I have nothing but the highest respect for him as a police officer. He is very professional and he is a good role model for the young recruits in the police academy," Fleming told The Associated Press on Thursday.

The course, called "Racial Profiling," teaches about different cultures that officers could encounter in their community "and how you don't want to single people out because of their ethnic background or the culture they come from," Fleming said.

Obama has said the Cambridge officers "acted stupidly" in arresting Gates last week when they responded to his house after a woman reported a suspected break-in.

Crowley, 42, has maintained he did nothing wrong and has refused to apologize, as Gates has demanded.

Crowley responded to Gates' home near Harvard University last week to investigate a report of a burglary and demanded Gates show him identification. Police say Gates at first refused, flew into a rage and accused the officer of racism.

Gates was charged with disorderly conduct. The charge was dropped Tuesday.

Gates' supporters maintain his arrest was a case of racial profiling. Officers were called to the home by a woman who said she saw "two black males with backpacks" trying to break in the front door. Gates has said he arrived home from an overseas trip and the door was jammed.

Obama was asked about the arrest of Gates, who is his friend, at the end of a nationally televised news conference on health care Wednesday night.

"I think it's fair to say, No. 1, any of us would be pretty angry," Obama said. "No. 2, that the Cambridge police acted stupidly in arresting somebody when there was already proof that they were in their own home. And No. 3 — what I think we know separate and apart from this incident — is that there is a long history in this country of African-Americans and Latinos being stopped by law enforcement disproportionately, and that's just a fact."

In radio interviews Thursday morning, Crowley maintained he followed procedure.

"I support the president of the United States 110 percent. I think he was way off base wading into a local issue without knowing all the facts as he himself stated before he made that comment," Crowley told WBZ-AM. "I guess a friend of mine would support my position, too."

Crowley did not immediately respond to messages left Thursday by the AP. The Cambridge police department scheduled a news conference for later Thursday.

Gates has said he was "outraged" by the arrest. He said the white officer walked into his home without his permission and only arrested him as the professor followed him to the porch, repeatedly demanding the sergeant's name and badge number because he was unhappy over his treatment.

"This isn't about me; this is about the vulnerability of black men in America," Gates said.

He said the incident made him realize how vulnerable poor people and minorities are "to capricious forces like a rogue policeman, and this man clearly was a rogue policeman."

The president said federal officials need to continue working with local law enforcement "to improve policing techniques so that we're eliminating potential bias."

Fellow officers, black and white, say Crowley is well-liked and respected on the force. Crowley was a campus police officer at Brandeis University in July 1993 when he administered CPR trying to save the life of former Boston Celtics player Reggie Lewis. Lewis, who was black, collapsed and died during an off-season workout.

Gov. Deval Patrick, who is black, said he was troubled and upset over the incident. Cambridge Mayor Denise Simmons, who also is black, has said she spoke with Gates and apologized on behalf of the city, and a statement from the city called the July 16 incident "regrettable and unfortunate."

The mayor refused Thursday to comment on the president's remarks.

Police supporters charge that Gates, director of Harvard's W.E.B. Du Bois Institute for African and African American Research, was responsible for his own arrest by overreacting.

Black students and professors at Harvard have complained for years about racial profiling by Cambridge and campus police. Harvard commissioned an independent committee last year to examine the university's race relations after campus police confronted a young black man who was using tools to remove a bike lock. The man worked at Harvard and owned the bike.

I heard the police report read on the radio today. It did not sound to me like the cop did anything wrong. He acted in a professional manner the whole time. It sounded like the professor just had a giant chip on his shoulder. When it comes out that the cop didn't do anything wrong, Obama is going to look like a dumbass.

#1 It will never come out that the office did nothing wrong. Do you really think the liberal media would report that.
#2 It sounds to me like this guy should get to know his neighbors and then they wouldn't think that a black man was breaking into his home when they see him at the door.
# 3 For an educated man it sounds like he acted very stupid. Show the cop your ID. How many times have we all watched the show Cops and just sit and shake your heads at he dumb ass (black and white) that bring this shit on them selves by not following directions. Cop says put your hand up, you put you hands up.
#4 It would not have mattered what happened the responding cops were in a no win situation. Don't show up fast enough your racist, Ask for ID your racist, have a strange person start to yell at you and you arrest them your racist, Act like a nice guy and don't protect your self by doing the above - BANG - your dead and don't get to home and see your family. Now instead of racist your stupid and dead. I would choose being called a racist before being dead any day thank you very much. This cop did his job the president needs to shut the fuck up.

Well said.:thumbsup

He (professor Gates) sounds like an educated man who feels some form of entitlement because he is educated.............and black.

Whether I am white, black, rich or poor, when a leo says "get your hands up and answer a few questions", I'm doing it!

Now we are commenting on a scene that we were not at, just as Obama did, but racism goes both ways .

And on a non-race based note: many EDUCATED people that I have known were smart-as-a-box-of-rocks when it came to common sense or common logic.:rolleyes:

I'm just sayin'.

Actually, and you won't see this in the headlines, the ARRESTING officer was white, BUT the other LEO on scene was Black.
Gates verbally attacked the White officer. (Who was the primary responder)
A picture from the scene that was on MSN home page showed the 2 officers, but was quickly removed.

No teleprompter, what do you expect that empty suit to do:eek:? Respond in an intelligent manner:blah:? Community organizers can't speak unless pre planned info is flashed across the screen.......Now there is an up roar over the question being asked during a planned speech on health care. Damn rogue reporters that don't follow the script. If it, the question, hadn't been asked, this bullshit would have never surfaced. ....What a laughing stock this country is becoming in the eyes of the world....Can he really conquer the US from within in 4 years? Or just set racial relations back 50 years? .....Ray

C'mon guys, you're not giving Emperor Obama enough credit. He purposely stepped on his dick to keep the media focus here instead of the middle east. Things have been sucking ass for our guys in Afghanistan for a while now. Pretty soon the media will be forced to cover it. But if he can just keep their eyes from "behind the curtain" he won't have to address a much larger and complicated issue.

During his campaign, he was Mr. "I'm getting the troops out of Iraq". He didn't quite make it clear to the dullards that voted for him that he would be pulling them out of a relatively stable Iraq and sending them into Afghanistan.

Between the middle east, the economy, and his push for healthcare reform; this guy is sitting on the tripple threat of failure. He'd rather have a story comming out saying he worships the devil than address any of the other "real" issues directly.

His interjection into the issue was calculated. It drew heat off the public's opposition to Obamacare since they now had something else to bicker about. This gives Pelosi and the rest of the idiots time to completely subjugate the will of the American people by ramrodding socialized medicine through Congress.

The guy is a loser, devoid of morals, and will surely ruin mulitiple aspects of our nation; but don't for a minute miscalculate his ability to manipulate the media to point the attention of the American People where he wants it.

Chris

From Yahoo news...

Tapes of the call released earlier this week revealed that Whalen did not mention race. When pressed by a dispatcher on whether the men were white, black or Hispanic, she said one of them might have been Hispanic.

"Now that the tapes are out, I hope people can see that I tried to be careful and honest with my words," Whalen said. "It never occurred to me that the way I reported what I saw be analyzed by an entire nation."

They are beating up the 911 caller, she reported it, they are turning her into a racist saying that she reported two balck men breaking into a house, she never said they were black, what if she did, the two guys that were breaking into the Professors house were......... Black. Wholly crap people, get a grip. Can we not even say that an Oriental guy is Oriental, or a Mexican is a Mexican anymore... Amazing!!! NOT
