That is unfortunate. He might have learned something valuable. I wish I could take his spot. I'd never even think of missing an opportunity like that.

Guess he had to do it since they own us. :bash: It is a travesty to think that the president of the United States of America is trying to appease a communist nation. FDR, Truman, Ike and Kennedy are rolling over in their graves.

Is this too strong? Oh well. Too late.

"I just wish to express my dismay at your decision to not meet with the Dalai Lama during his visit to the United States. What is more disturbing than your lack of seeing the value of his visit, is your reason for not meeting with him. Since when does any president of this great nation choose who we will meet with or entertain due to the desires of a communist nation? FDR, "Give 'em Hell" Harry Truman, Ike and JFK are rolling over in their graves right now. I suppose since it appears your agenda is to make us a communist nation as well, that must be your reasoning. Shame on you, Mr. President. The communist regime massacred the Tibetans. Now you bow down to them. Shame on you."

So you are upset that Obama did not meet with the Dali Lama?

It seems it would make more sense if you were upset he would meet with him.

Why would the Past Presidents have an issue here?

Do a little research on this guy. He believes in Peace. He thinks that all races should get along. We cannot have that in the political arena;)

He is such a radical that he even believes that people should be entitled to Health Care. Can you imagine that. Disgusting. If you are poor or from a poor country you should just die. What is this guy thinking:cool:

I just hope measures are being taken to make sure he does not get in front of any School children and talk about peace. Can't have our kids exposed to A Buddhist now can we:D

I've read three of his books. I've done a little research on him.

He's not meeting with the Dalai because he hasn't met with China first, and he doesn't want to piss off China or they won't lend him another $2-3T for his special interests and social programs.

You may be correct. Then explain what you want them to talk about? God knows the banks need more money. Obama and him probably see Eye to eye so what is the big deal.

The only people who should be "entitled" to anything are those who actively served in the military, otherwise get off your ass and work for it like the rest of us.

I do work. I pay taxes. I pay for my employees medial care.

No one dies on the streets of the USA because they don't have health insurance. Free this, free that, clinics here, Medicare & Medical there.

That is not true. If you have a condition and no insurance just try and get treated. You can say this all day long but you are not correct. Not trying to convince you. Just making a point.

If he truly believes in peace, he should invite OBL to his house for supper.

He may have. I really don't know:D

And hell no, I don't want him talking to my kids.

Why not? You think it is important for him to speak to any sitting President.

I've read three of his books. I've done a little research on him.

OK so why do you feel it was so important for the President to meet with Him?

BTW I could care less about the Dali Lama. It is so so much fun to see you guys in the Political section get so upset over everything:D:D

I think what you meant to say is you COULDN'T care less about the Dalai Lama. ;)

And my answer is the same reason he should meet with the Pope. He is the spiritual leader for hundreds of millions of people and the exiled political leader for millions of people whose voices cannot be heard.

Why would the Past Presidents have an issue here?

Past presidents would have an issue here because they fought communism toe to toe. This schmuck is bending over for a communist regime and is concerned about offending them. The communist government went in and massacred peaceful people. Then our president doesn't see the peaceful people because the barbarian gov't might be offended. It's a shame that we are so in debt up to our eyeballs to the barbarians that it's come to this.

And for the record, I avoid buying Chinese products whenever possible, even if it means paying more for something.

What it comes down to is your right when we narrow down the issue to the President not meeting with this religious leader because it is perceived he is bowing to China. Hell he probably is. My point is, is this really the battle we want to take on when we have much bigger issues. Past Presidents Republican and Democrat have sold us out to the Chinese. For that matter the little I have read about the Dali Lama he does not seem to have an issue with pure communism just the Chinese.

I am in a Mfg. business. I compete with the Slave Labor out of China on a daily basis. I am the last person to defend China nor do I buy goods from China given the choice.

I would love the US Government to step up and stop all the imports but it is not gonna happen until we the people demand it.

People don't die on the street in the strictest sense of the word. Yes you collapse and are taken to the Emergency room for treatment. Once there an unlimited amount of funds will be spent to keep this SICK person from dieing. It would be cheaper in the long run to treat this person from the unset of the ailment when they can have a productive life rather than spending an equal amount or more just to keep them alive.

The Heath Care debate is a good one. I appreciate your views.

I'm no Obama supporter, but I can tell you right now.. If I was the president of the U.S. I wouldn't meet with him either. I'd be working round the clock with the best of the best trying to figure out how to pull back on the stick.

I'd politely decline and tell him that I'll fly him in on my dime at a later date.

That would have been an acceptable reason. Not wanting to offend the Chinese is not. And you're right WACAT, our debt to China is not Obama's fault. Him kissing their ass is.

The chinese are focking bullies if you ask me ;)

They did it way back to our government

The Associated Press OTTAWA, April 8 - China has issued a stern warning to Paul Martin about whether he should meet with the Dalai Lama this month in Ottawa: Do not even think about it if you value good trade relations with China.
"On this we are very clear-cut -- that we are opposed to any foreign government officials to meet with him. Because, you know, the Dalai Lama is neither a political figure nor a religious figure. He's just somebody involved with separating China," said a senior official with the Chinese embassy in Ottawa.

Asked whether a Martin meeting would have a negative impact on Canada's efforts to bolster trade relations with the world's fastest-growing economy, the Chinese official responded: "I just now said our position -- very clearly. So you can see, the answer is there. Right? We are opposed to any official contacts between him [and] any foreign government official."

Recent one ;
Beijing raised the spectre of trade sanctions against France yesterday to threaten President Sarkozy's plan to meet the Dalai Lama. The coded warning came on the day that the Tibetan spiritual leader was fĂȘted by the European Parliament.

The Dalai Lama seem to be more flexible IMHO ;
China deserved to be a superpower, the Dalai Lama said, given its huge population and economic and military strength.

He added, however: “One important factor is moral authority and that is lacking. Because of its very poor record on human rights and religious freedom and freedom of expression and freedom of the press — too much censorship — the image of China in the field of moral authority is very, very po

Like the US never existed until china was able to sell us everything we were too lazy or over-regulated to make ourselves.

We benefit little, if any, trading with china, who happens to be conveniently communist.

All Retards.

I can't imagine the same trade with Russia as a communist country.
