So I had a jetboat guy ask about bulkheads. He wants -8 on the outside of the boat. On the inside he wanted both 3/8 male NPT and a female 1/8" NPT ports. We kicked around what combo would be the cleanest way to get to it. These are going on a nice product so stacking fittings together was not sounding to good. So I suggested we just start from scratch.

Well this is what I came up with. I didn't have a screw machine length drill handy last Sunday but you get the idea where the 1/8" NPT port goes. It will also be drilled and tapped on the lathe. I'm all about doing it all in one op. Well, the best I can anyway.

Then I got to thinking. No one makes bulkheads that go from AN flare to NPT in 6061. You can get them in steel and brass. But none of the performance fitting places have them. The industrial ones have the hex next to the NPT thread and the other side is just one long thread with a flare on the end. Not really what you want sticking out of the firewall or a nice hot rod. So I just extended the thread for the nut a little. Loaded up the bar loader and let her rip.

These are -8 male AN to 3/8"NPT male. I plan to run the entire range from -4 to -12.

Forgive my ignorance but what are those parts going to be used for? I really admire and respect what you, Dave, and others can do with respect to machining parts...

bulkhead fittings are used when you are going through something with a hose. Like the firewall of a car, transom of a boat or even some type of control panel. In this case it lets the user connect a #8 hose on one side and connect to a 3/8" pipe thread on the other.
I don't expect these to be an "A" mover. But I have had people ask for them. So now I'll have 'em.

As far as the machine work goes there is nothing wizzy here. Just turn, thread, drill and deburr.
