In the meat department will a prime rib say prime rib on the tag or is another cut? I go to Vons and never seen a tag that says Prime Rib?

I forget what exactly it's called but it's basically a slab of Rib-eye that hasn't been sliced into individual steaks if i'm not mistaken...

It will be called a "Standing Rib Roast"

Prime refers to the USDA labeling. Prime, Choice, etc.

bought one, just asked the butcher. She cut it for me. 5lbs with ribs. Cooked it last night. 1 hr 40 mns or so with salt, pepper and garlic only. Was great. had some good wine I got from the Pat Tillman golf tourney I played on Monday. good stuff. had some friends over as well to help.....thanks all....

I used the last thick slice of leftovers to make stew in the crock pot yesterday. One fat tire ale, one miller lite, red potatoes, onion, garlic cloves, tomoatoes - damn good and more appealing than heating up that slice of prime rib and turning it brown in the micro.
