I haven't had a chance to post a lot yet but i thought I'd start off with some examples of the little things we make here that can't be bought in any catalog. These are some stainless washers we made for our 2004 Schiada 22 day cruiser build to hold in the wash/cav plates. The theme of the boat was to make as much out of stainless as possible. The owner's previous 22 we built was 20 years old and the only things that were deteriorating were the non-stainless items exposed to water. These may not be very cost effective, between material/cutting/machining/polishing, they are probably in the neighborhood of $5 a peice. But you won't find another set anywhere else.

Racey, post some pictures of your Lathe! :) After watching the progression between this thread and the other one, I'm pretty sold on WaterJet..

yeah that water jet sure is nifty. but a bar feed cnc lathe would drop those washers off complete with out touching them until they hit the done basket.
As always, off the hook work Racey.

Indeed, but if you only need 20 or 25 of them it wouldn't be worth setting up a bar feeder, or even a normal CNC lathe for that matter?

yes, just change the lenght of part in the bar loader.
And the cnc program would be a snap. Nothing more then programing the water jet I would think.
I always thought just like you until I got my own.
But that water jet is hella pimp. I want one!
