Okay so up to '74 Spectra built all their boats with full stringer and these are also easy to spot because the have the double water line right? At any point did Spectra go back to full stringers in jet and I/O applications?

Up to 1974 all Spectras (18, 20 & 24's) had 4 full stringers with center bulkhead and the deck had a foam core. They were layed up very heavy!
From 1975-1978 the jets (18, 19 & 20's) had motor boxes.
From 1979-1981 Spectra went back to full stringers on the jets & I/O's.
Spectra always had full stringers & center bulkhead in the v-drives (19, 20 & 24's).

Excellent! Thanks for the clarification. Any ideas on the ratio of jet 20s vs V-Drives built. Seems to be 10:1 on the used market.

I would say the Spectra 20 with the jet was one of the most popular
hull drive combos in the 1970's. So I would say 10 to 1 is a good guess.

Yeah you never see too many V-Drive 20s for sale, wonder why:p

Hey Roughrider, is your boat a small block or big block? What kind of performance do you get out of it?

small block runs great tops out round 57-58 and gets great gas mileage for a ski boat very happy with it! may be for sale soon too:cool:

Post #65, the red 24 you can see a thin waterline above the thicker one(bottom stripe). All Spectras up to 74 had this, unless full hull color.
