considering what it cost me I am happy. I don't liek the fuel fill on the deck but fixing the non-skid was too expensive....

Need to glass in a floor now. Pictures would normally be here but they are all 3 mb and I don't knwo how to resize....

First off - this thing is for sale so I can by the 20 o/b from on here....

Found something on my computer. I had him fill in the indentation where the clamp on would normally go so its all flat for mounting the setback bracket. Gonna run the 2 stroke that I have vs a new 4 stroke due to $$$. Got a quote on a trailer, need tohttp://www.riverdavesplace.com/gallery/displayimage.php?imageid=4871 get the boat down toward San Diego for sizing unless I can get Dave to show the guy his trailer so he knows angles, spacing etc....

Was your non skid red already or did you have that shot red as well? If you had it shot did it fill in the non skid at all or can you still see the pattern. Im just worried about having my non skid painted and being filled in by the paint on my 10'. Also, how much do you want for the boat?

When I did my 1st 10'er.. The deck was all red like that and I wanted it white. I had the boat gelled, and then I had TRG Fiberglass paint the deck. With paint you don't have to "buff" it like gel (impossible with non skid), and it goes on a lot thinner, so as to not fill in the valleys etc..

I'm not sure what paint they used, but it was durable as hell. I walked on it, spilled gas on it etc.. with no problems.

True, thats why its still there! My last one was perfect as I was the first to drill the hole. Iput the tank in the back and the battery in front to help with the COG. This one will be opposite.

I know these things had a slight crown to the deck but of the 3 I owned none of them were the same. There is no bulkhead, what are the chances I can create some crown and put some sort of bulkhead in. I think the paint will flex but not sure of the rest. I am talking about pushing it up 1/2 to 1" or so?

Your asking to create a bunch of stress cracks in the boat IMO.. It'll look bitchen right up until the 1st time you trailer it.

Here are the pics of the trailer so far. Trailer will be painted silver when done. Keeping the cost down by painting the whole deal - no SS/chrome fenders.

What size wheels on there? Are those 12"s like RD's? They look like they would be fine to tow long distance.

It's impossible to tell by the pics, but I'm thinking they are 12's. :)

Nice looking wheels!

Something kind of looks funny about the spacing / fender proportion though.. I think the fenders are too long? Could just be a funny picture angle though as well.

need to change some lights out as the round ones seem awkward. Any thoughts on covering the top of the fender where the mounting bolts come through? maybe shorten the guides as well to more like the 21. Going to go see it on Sunday...

Personally I like the lights and the guides.. The hardware going through the fenders is a bit odd though. I think at his stage in the game though I'd just leave it.. Getting the guy to move them to where it should be might prove to be a monumental task and it's not that noticeable.

If you want I can machine you some little billet step plates that mount there? Then it will look intentional and it will keep people from using your fenders as a foot rest (they are about at that height when you see them in person)

Verall though Gary the trailer came out pretty sick!

They are a bit taller then "your" 21, but on other 21's I've seen the side guides come up above the sides of the boat.. I have some pictures somewhere, but there on my external.

Truthfully Gary I think it looks pretty f'n sweet.. I think your sweatin the small shit a bit. If you want to change something for no reason, then we could make a laundry list of things..

But when you factor in that everyone elses shit is on a jet ski trailer and yours is on a slammed tandom with a bow winch recessed lights, 4 bunks etc.. Well then I think you hit the mark. :D

Thanks guys. Here is the bracket I am making. I went with just plate cut at an angle because I want to ball mill some grooves in it rather than the way I did the last one. I already screwed up and did not recess the motor side plate to fit between the setback plates but its on the engine side so should be ok. I have not counter sunk the bolts yet just drilling the holes to hold it together and then connecting all the pieces for fit.

I think it's much stronger the way it is right now. The load is imparted to the side plates and not solely on the bolts that are only in single shear.
Besides you are going to see the seam whether it is on the back or the side.

Those things look awesome on those little tandem trailers. A picture from the right angle and you could fool a lot of people into thinking it was a full size boat.

I want one too!!!
I'm going to have to get one of these someday for the kids to tool around in there's still enough room in the river house garage for one. My dad showed the kids video of me running around in my old 10'r and they thought it was pretty cool.

On my 21 the stainless is done that way but you also can see the head and it looks better than a rivet head IMO. On the 10's from what I have seen in the 3 I have had was it was attached with rivets. These boats are small so I would need a very small person to climb up under the bow.

Rub rail doesn't always need nuts on the inside, when we install stainless rub rail on bare hulls we drill and tap the glass 8-32 or 10-32 just as if it were metal, then you put the screws in with loctite and they never go anywhere :thumbsup

Sometimes we will put nuts on them, but that's usually just to hold the adel clamps that support the steering cables and wire harnesses.

Probably the wrong speed and going way to fast in a drill press.. Take a picture of the bit? Most counter sinks like to run real slow RPM.

That looks like a high speed counter sink, never liked them or had much luck with them,

The best kind are the two middle ones in this picture, the ones with the hole through them. You turn them slow and they pull one solid string of chip, even in stainless, aluminum you can run them pretty fast and they still work great. 82 degree is what you want for 90% of fasteners

It worked great on the last one I did. But I did it with a hand drill which was a PITA. Now I have the press and it screams like stuck pig to the poitn I think I am doing hearing damage. I will try and slow it down a bit and see if it helps. Not sure my speed is adjustable though.

We have those here Shane, but truthfully I prefer a single flute counter sink. It allows you to run a wider range of hole sizes for each counter sink, and you can run them slow, or fast... doesn't seem to matter.

Since i only deal in standard sizes, never metric, we almost always use piloted hole style counter sinks, 82 degree 1/4" - 1/2" sizes, the things do stainless so bitchin it's amazing, they never seem to wear either

Looking at the pictures i would say that the front fin should be about 12" back from the tip of the speed coat, maybe 16", it should be back where the keel starts to run totally flat by about 6", this is just a guess on my part, and this is where i would start if it was my boat ;). Maybe Stan will come on here and throw his expertise out as i've never rigged any outboard or 10'r. and don't have any experience with them other than what i know from building the bigger ones

I was just getting used to the ole way of posting! I liek having the pics in the thread rather thsan being redirected. That fin is killer. Would you suggest polishing it? BTW to build the inside up flat is going to take a lot of material I am thinking about 1" or more. Was thinking of making a wood block to put in and then glass that in or should it just be fiberglass?

You think that speedcoat will get me to 40MPH. solo, 1 gallon of fuel and no cooler! :skull

I had some so I went ahead and installed carpet and test fit interior. I decided to run the old control it came with for cost purposes since I already had it PC'd and all...

Due to the fact this boat has external cable steer at one point it had these holes to deal with. I forgot to ask the interior guy to make these as well so not great and no french stich on them but they will do. Thanks to Mike at Prime for the idea....

Also, working on wiring up the stereo...

Needs a smaller diameter wheel and possibly a new shifter knob due to the clearance of WOT and the left side of the wheel. For now I have adjusted the shifter way back and reverse will be limited. Possibly hitting castaic on Friday afternoon.

Thanks Dave.

I was going to try and learn to sew as I borrowed a machine and bought material from a crafts place. I got a quote to sew it that I could not pass up so they made it and went above and beyond what I thought I was going to get. i still want to learn to sew but need some help with the machine.....maybe I will do the cowel cover with the leftovers...

So you never answered my question yesterday or maybe you never saw the post since Chernobyl occurred. What size is that wheel? 13" or larger? I was looking the 11 inch grant but cant find it in white and don't want black....

If we get a enclosed trailer for the crackerbox, I will need to convert my trailer to a dolly. I might pick those up off you if u want to sell them

I am keeping the wheels on the trailer - he was talking about the steering wheel. It's a bit big for the boat...

If I hadn't spent all the time building mine i would consider it, but like you mentioned I also want it a little more like the vast majority of the seats you see in Schiadas.
