Well here is my BBQ that I built last June. I had wanted one of these for quite some time but shelling out the $10,000 for it just wasnt's something I was prepared to do.

I had absolutely no instructions on this project. The only thing that I knew about these and their construction was what I could see when I went to home shows and looked inside them. That's it.

I put it against my chimney as I had a gas hook-up right there. When I put in my covered patio, I will put in a nice hood which will basically make this an outdoor kitchen. Great for entertaining.

Framing:

I didn't draw out any plans for my BBQ. I just layed down some steel to a desired lenght and went from there. I had the measurement of the grill but that was it.

All this was done with some tin snips, a drill to make the holes and then through bolted with nuts and bolts.

Puttin the backer board on. This was also very easy. Got some self tapping screws and bnag....it went on like a piece of cake. It's kind of sad how easy this is with how much they charge.

Tiling: Most people know how do do this. Just get a nice wet cutter and go to work.

One of the things I learned about grouting.....use a trowel. I used my bare hands and they hurt for a long time.

Stucco: I had a freind do this for me. He shored up the corners with steel and then did the wire and bam, it was done.

I have a spout on ther side of the BBQ where the drop in chest drains out.

So what was the ballpark cost of materials? I might have to do this myself. It's time to put in a backyard.

That came out good. Inspiring. I got a nice slab of granite waiting for my patio bar to build. :hmm:D

On this BBQ, is it gas to the houes? Or propane bottles?

I see one vent up at the top.. but did you put any other vents down low?

Gas........He said he put it next to his chimney to be close to the hook-up in his first post. I'm glad I'm here to clear things up for you and Pole Tickle. :D;)
