What I did over the winter

Building a 77 Cole runner. Had most of the boat regelled and cracks fixed. A coat of resin on the floors and sanded and buffed. The Wannabe guys built the motor. Its a 540ci Dart , 13:1, aluminum heads, Crower stack and will be running on E85!. Pickin up my seats at Firebird this weekend, white shells with all grey tweed. Should be a fun little river boat!

Got a little more done. Got the cav hardware all on but still gotta adjust em. Got the rudder back from gettin zinc plated and put it in. New strut bushings & billet shaft log seal. Got he tank mounts glassed in and finished all the stainless welding on em today so they can go in. The guy doin my seats in cal. is bringin em to Firebird tomorrow for me to pick up and I should have the motor rails back Monday and can start puttin everything else in it. :thumbsup

Yeah I know what ya mean about circus stripes. Actually when its done I'm gonna have a striper do a small 1/8" stripe of black where the yellow meets the white and then about 1/2" into the yellow a small 1/8" silver stripe. Real subtle though nothing big.

Ready for the motor. Will throw the other tank in tonight. threw the seats in for a pic,just finished the brackets and the battery hold down this weekend and took em to the powdercoaters. Got my gauges and tach today so they will go in tonight also. Might make it for Memorial Day!

Looks great Marko, I would put another safety collar on the rudder just above the hose clamps holdin the key in. I had the same setup, I don't know if it was the vibration or what but my hose clamps broke and I don't have to tell you what a LUCKY ride that turned into. The rudder key won't be able to pop out with a safety collar. :cool::D

Gettin close! Put the motor in this afternoon. Just gotta few little things to do, Wire it, fuel shut off cable and brackets, throttle cable bracket at injectors, drive shaft and cover & dump some oil in it. First trip to Parker I'll take it to Havasu to get striped. :champagne:

Thanks guys. This was the first time I've done one to this extent. Hope it doesnt take forever to get the plates dialed and figure out the right prop. I got a 2 blade and a 3 blade for Sunday. Always wanted to run a 3 blade so it wouldnt vibrate and hook up good but Tony's pretty much talked me out of it. Just gotta find the right one. ;)

Have an appointment Friday in Havasu to get it done. Told the guy I'd be there between 8 & 9 so gotta roll oughta here early.
Took it to the lake this morning for the first time and couldnt believe how well everything went. Motor ran bitchen, nothing broke or came loose. Everything worked great, the plates are pretty close,at least from what I can tell now, didnt leg it out to far or hard. The prop I borrowed seemed like it worked great, didnt try the 3 blade, I'll mess with that at the river. The response with these injectors is way cool! Big difference from carbs. :thumbsup GF tried to get some pics of it running but by the time I got out of the no wake zone it was to far.

Got it striped Friday, Came out nice , the guy did a great job. Pretty much what I told him I wanted and a couple ideas of his own. I'll get some pics up later.
It ran great till my flywheel ate the oil pressure guage line! Didnt hurt anything, just put oil all over the floor. What a Fukin mess to clean up! My own fault for runnin it the way I did. Changin it all this week, will NEVER happen again. Didnt get a chance to get down to the keys, I'm not so sure they would appreciate me pullin in there anyway. Cant idle slow enough and its pretty loud.

I dont know what he used but you can pick a spot anywhere on the boat and just barely run your nail over it and a spot about 1/2" will just flake off. He didnt take the wax off, its all gotta come off. :thumbsdown

No , I'm not takin it off just goin around the whole thing and about every 3' scratching some off so he doesnt try and just touch up the bad spots. Its all gotta come off, I'm not coming back every month so he can touch it up. He said he would take care of it but he didnt see the extent of it. I just hope he's a stand up guy and takes care of it. I'll let ya know.

Put a new single pedal assembly in. Got rid of the up pedal. I'm really impressed with the new one , nice piece for sure! Oh, and all the bolt holes in the stringers matched the old ones and the control rod length was perfect! can you believe that shit? I shoulda bought alotto ticket that day!

He and myself went around and found all the spots that were comin off. He re striped most of it and seems to be all right.
It runs bitchen except the buterflies were all messed up which just effects it at an idle pretty much. Took em off and sent the whole set up to Rons fuel in Tucson and they are giving them the once over, should be ok and idle down where it should be about 1100 or so once I get em back on for New Years.
