It goes all the way to the bottom of the boat and ties in there. It'll be strong enough. By the way, supposedly the motor made it to the dyno shop and most of my other crap is done. Soon I hope.

Have to call him he doesn't call me. It made it to the dyno place last week. It may have been run already. Everything else is done except the v-drive as we were waiting to see what gears are needed. I know it's apart and ready to go back together though. I'm meeting him a the long beach races in 2 weeks to pick up my steering and wiring harness. Hopefully get the motor and trans shortly after.

Hope ya like it.. Finally made it down to Fred Ex today.. Get it on the boat, and if that through bolt cap is too big, or looks funny just let me know and we'll make another one. :) Can't go any smaller on diameter, but we can make it taper or something.. Unfortunately I wrote with magic marker on the stainless to see where the cap of the boat was etc.. and that all came right off almost right after I did it. So I couldn't tell how much of the steel pole was exposed etc.. After I look at it on the boat, we'll get a better idea.

Alright Dave,

I'm gonna need one of these for my 76 next year. The only trick is how I'm going to support it on a glass only transom. I could glass in some wood for that little dealio though ;)
