Your expertise welcome here for my boat engine 460 BBF build...

I have a 429/460 BBF and want to rebuild it in the coming year. It sits in a 20' Spectra jet boat, with a few SCJ parts: intake, and rods. DOVE-C heads, a light marine cam and roller rockers with a 730 vac Holly, stock aluminum exhaust logs.

I do 58mph on my boat with 4500rpm on a AA cast impeller. I would like to make the 70+mph mark.

I was hoping to stoke this motor to 512-521 in hopes of more HP and Torque. My boat is quite heavy 3000+lbs.

Should I just get great flowing heads and headers? What about the Cam size/duration? I would use a hydrolic roller assembly rather than a mechanical one for less maintenance.

Should I just order a crate motor from Ford for $9k? Or are there some other benefits of piecing everything together myself? Less headaches with the crate motor, but there is the potential to have a better engine for the same price...

As you know the jet boat runs a much higher rpm for a long duration compaired to a car. as far as a cam selection be carefull here as well, the wrong duration #s in an engine running wet exaust can lead to reversion issues where the engine sucks water back in through the exaust. And on the subject of exaust,i think those logs may be a cork in your build.
If i were you i would contact one of the engine guys here and get some advice from a pro.

That was very modest of you but you already seem to be an used engines (http://www.mwdauto.com/) expert because that's what I head from someone who knows well about motors.
