After the first of the year I am gonna make kick panels for my 69 chevy truck. For now I will just be replacing the crappy jensen knober with a newer cd/ipod compatible deck.

What speakers do you like that would sound good with small power and could possibly grow with me if I added an amp/sub down the road?

Like mentioned they need to be somewhat shallow w/o a huge magnet.

These sound good and they're cheap:

You didn't mention a price range.

Intresting....

I imagine they sound good for the $$$ if your recomending them. Never really considered fosgate for co ax speakers.

I do like the grill and the price is right....:thumbsup

DUDE! Dont cut the dash! Put in and old school twin knob dealio that looks period correct and get one of those IPOD deals that doesnt need a head unit like guys are using in Rhino's.

Is your gas tank still behind the seat?

Gas tank is still behind the seat and will probably stay there...

I am still undecided on the dash. I don't have the factory radio. If I did I wouldn't cut the dash even if it didnt work. Since thats not the case I will probably cut it and have RD machine me up a billet trim ring.

I will cut it clean and keep the peice in case I ever need to put it back. The truck is a hot rod and I'm not that concerned with doing a concours resto.

So if you dont take the gas tank out you are never going to get any subs in it (unless you do buckets and a counsel). So, if the tank stays you dont need a badass deck to run a couple 6.5's???? Its never going to sound great anyway with only 2 6.5s. If you do Buckets and a counsel you can put a touchscreen in the counsel and it looks badass. Sorry, Im a bit of a purest. I hate cutting up anything and Im pissed my original doors on my 72 were cut for 5.25s. Id rather have 6.5s in kick panels.

If anything I would do a 10" shallow pioneer or fosgate under the seat. Bench has to stay to be a family vehicle (3 of us) so no buddy buckets or console.

The previus owner cut my doors as well....sucks becuse that bothers me 100x more than the dash...lol (Weird I know)

My plan is to make kick panels and fill the current holes in the doors.

My plan is to have a billet peice made to make the factory location look good with a modern radio. I talked to RD and he said something like this would be easy.

Still on the fence but I'm not impressed with those $250 retro sound deals. I would like full ipod intergration and bluetooth.

When this happens I will yank the whole interior and fatmatt the crap out of everything to make this thing quiet...lol:swear:rotflmao:

Well I got a new kenwood HU and the fosgate speakers mentioned by
SPL2K. I think I am going to order another set so I don't have to fill the cut door panels for now.

Now I just have to find some time to cut the dash build kick panels and gut the interior and add fatmat and wire the thing up.

Done deal.....

I cut it clean and saved the prices in case I ever sell it and they want to do a original restoration. Im a hot rodder and could care less about leaving things stock.

The units in the links you posted are pricey and less than amazing compared to a $150 kenwood

Put a factory stereo back in the dash and the put your aftermarket stereo in the glovebox, that's what we do in our Impalas. Don't cut the dash up!!!!
