I will be in stalling a Foam mantel at the ledge and will be doing a form of Venetian Plaster. I will put up more pics when I am installing the mantel.

I am sure the new will look great, just hate to see that old red brick go away. What we did in the old days is destined to be changed in the current day.

Ya I give a lot of face lifts to older stuff now that the economy turned.

Nice. We just did that to the outside of my fireplace. We river rocked the inside ages ago. Looks LOTS better than that funky red brick!

Good luck with yours. :thumbsup

That looks great. It makes a big difference. Here is one I did a few years ago. We changed it to a raised hearth. You can't see it well in the pics, but the hearth overhangs about 2" with a doubled up 180 degree bullnose (like granite counter tops). It made a big difference in the room.

Only things left to do is grout the tile and finish the plaster. :champagne:

Yes, I did it for a customer. I set almost 3,000 SF of the same limestone tile on the floors (on a diagonal). Also did a Marble shower...it turned out awesome but I didn't care for the marble.

Those corner fireplaces you are doing look so good.

The finish is from Tex-Stone. It is called Marmorino. I put a Molasses stain over the top.
