Low budget speakers. 6.5" coax marine. Looking at MB Quart NKF116 vs Alpine spsm600. Both are under $80 per pair on Amazon. Looking to run a low budget amp like the MB Quart Marine 6-channel A/B at 6x60rms.

Opinions?

I had the MB's in my Cobalt 246 but I was driving them with two JL amps so they sounded great. This is a low budget ride so I don't have the option of big clean power like JL. Thanks for the vote:thumbsup

I have 6 6 x 9 MB's powered by alpine amp in our boat. They sound great to me. I do wish they put out a little more power but so far so good.

speakers are one of those things that are different for every ear. go listen to em and pick the ones you like. for all you know they both could sound like crap to you.

are you set on either of those brands?

another well regarded budget speaker is from Cadence. Not bad for the same price... check it out.

Just looking for a speaker under $100 per pair that has good sound and durable grills. I like the Polks too but they are open grills. Probably get destroyed quick in such a small ski boat. The mounting locations are not "safe" from bumps and bangs.

A few years ago I would've said definately MB Quart but now I say the Alpines. MB Quart is not the same company as before now that maxxsonics owns them. :(

I agree. I have the Alpine marines in my rhino and was surprised. The focals though are hard to beat.

I can't see the quality being any different on the MB Quarts...they are still made in the same factory in Germany, from what I understand.

I wonder if you heard some of these?

The quality is definitely different. I'm. Guessing during to inferior materials and cost cutting.
