I installed a new amp not too long ago and ever since I have been hearing my speakers pop when I trim the drive or tabs. I've looked at all the grounds and they appear to be good. Now I have speakers cutting out randomly and it doesnt appear to be the amp overheating since it does it cold. Im not sure if these 2 issues are related or not but trying to figure out how to isolate the problems. Any thoughts on what to check first? RCA's?

the pop is most likely ground related. where is the amp grounded? where is the motor grounded? could also be a failing alternator. it could be numerous things.

Both amps are grounded to a distribution block and the block is grounded to the battery. Is there a better way to do it? I figure its a wiring issue because the popping started immediately after I put in the new amp. I must have messed something up during the install.

what size wres into block from amps and what size out of block to batteries. also check ground going from batts to motor. pull ground off and clean both ends with wire brush. does it do the pop without the RCAs plugged in?

I forget what size power and ground wire I used but its big. I dont think I could get any bigger into the slot on the amp. I will clean the grounds on the battery since all I have done it tighten them up. I will also look at the motor Ground. I have not tried it with the rcas out but that would be an easy test so I will do so.

Start with those things and then report back.
