Are you guys running PCV's? Or just breather vents.....

I have a dual PCV set up but I believe the PCV valves are probably not the correct spring tension.
I have a tremendous amount of air being pulled from the valve covers.
I went to pull the filler cap off with engine running and it kept getting sucked back down to the valve cover......

Trying to work the bugs outta the new motor. I think this might be one of them.

Here is a picture of the set-up a couple weeks ago, before new carb. Still the dual PCV's, just a little different routing.
I am thinking it would be best to plug tube at carb base and just run with breathers. Thoughts?

I was running dual PVC's before I switched everything around. with this new motor I had a problem od oil coming out of non baffled breathers. I ran 2 billet pcv's to a puke tank with a breather, and I have the carb capped off. It worked great. When I switched exhaust, I also switched back to my original M/T covers and just went with baffled breathers. I still have this setup sitting on the shelf.;)

Nordic454 NICE setup!
I am a concerned about pulling oil (mist) into the manifold with the amount of vacuum I am seeing in the valve covers......So the puke tanks collects that.... right?
My valve covers are non baffled. Straight shot to the PCV's.
I am not familiar with that kind of collection system but there is no pull from the intake on this? Just whatever vents to the small tank (that's a question too)
Are the billet PCV's just a fitting or do they have checks valves in them?

Also I wonder how much better the engine would run if the vacuum was actually pulling fuel air mixture through the carb instead of air through the PCV's.
I am thinking my current set up is short circuiting alot of available air flow......
Did you notice any difference with one set up over another?
Did you have to re-tune the carb?

On the MT valve covers....is that just a vent breather then....through a mesh material? I was thinking that would be the way I would go.

I figure I am loosing quite a bit of cfm through the carb that could be put to better use, but I might be way off base.

Sorry for the 20 questions......but thanks for the help!

if you cap off the vacuum on the carb, then correct, you will not pull oil into the manifold. my engin was setup this way long ago when I got it, and changed it when I started playing around with the original motor. The pcv's I was using have a removeable check valve inside. The tank will collect oil that may be pushed past the valvecover. I typically took out the check valve and used it as just a fitting to push air. My covers are not baffeled either, but my breathers are. You can also buy baffeled push-in grommets for the pcv or breathers as well, which is what I used for the billet pcv's. Its like a fuel cell foam material. I didnot HAVE to re-tune the carb. Honestly I dont remember if it ran "better" when I changed to this setup, as I did a bunch of other things at the same time.
