I have a F250 Diesel, 2009 almost paid off, I get 9 to 10 MPG around town and on our runs to our new river house, from Marina Del Rey to Parker, the best so far is 13 MPG, it sucks, I have a 2004 Diesel and it gets 17 around town, but can not use it to go to river as it is a loaded Plumbing truck, really thinking about getting a new truck, but am not sure which new Diesel gets the best MPG, have thought about chipping, but would rather get a new truck, anyone know what the new 2012 or 2011 are getting MPG around town and on long hauls where you can set speed control and just cruise ! Or anyone have any ideas on the new diesel trucks, no matter the make on MPG ? There has to be a good new diesel out there that gets great MPG, or there may not be, any suggestions would really help ???

How many miles are on the trucks.

My 2009 Diesel has about 35,000
My 2004 Diesel has about 40,000
and all my other trucks are gas powered, when I got the 2009, I had no idea about the MPG, once I took it home and figured out some things, I realized it was horrible MPG, I took it back to the dealer, they had it for about 2 weeks and gave it back and said, they were getting 12MPG, so we just got a place at Parker about 2 moths ago, so I have been able to go there with and with out towing a trailer, and the best so far is 13 MPG, so I love the truck, it is a nice truck, but I would buy a new one soon, if the MPG were a lot better, one or 2 miles more per gallons does not justify digging a new hole of debt that I am almost out of . I have a few places close by who I am sure could chip it, it does void the warranty, but it is up already :)

I have an 2006 and hit 100,000 miles on it. The mpg now is around 17to 19 now. The only thing I did was take off my catalyc converter.

I have read about aftermarket chip/ exhaust for the 6.4 that really help the mileage.

There is a place by my house, I will go there and see what they have to say tomorrow, I do know with my 2009, there is so much resistance in the exhust it is crazy, so , I will look into it, would much rather fix it up a tad than buy a new truck, the newer the truck, the harder to fix, to many computers !

Hey Craig, my Plumbing truck is an 2004 f-450 6.0 it gets 10-11mpg no matter what. I roll an 08 duramax crewcab 4x4 for the river runs 16.6 mpg on the hwy not towing. that 6.4 is a .......... check out angies thread earlier, she said no trade ins at all on6.0 or 6.4. its in the lounge, good luck and hope to meet you in parker sometime!

Thanks Drive-By, and I am sure we will meet sooner or later, we just got our place about 2 months ago and LOVE it, so nice ! I know I could trade in my truck for a new one at the ford dealer we go to Airport Marina Ford, I have heard the more mileage you have the better the MPG, I recently replaced the air filter and some maintenance stuff, I am sure if I could remove the exhaust system as it is so backed up from all that crap ford added to try to make it cleaner, the mileage would go up, I am finding that after our Parker runs the mileage is getting very slowly better, we have gone back and forth maybe 8 to 10 times since we bought the place there, How is your Plumbing bizz doing, it is slow down here :( We are surviving and I hope you are too !

I dont know if your dead set on getting a diesel, but the new ecoboost f150
gets pretty good mileage and has a crap load of torque. If had to do it over again I would have bought one of these.

I have a 2011 Duramax 4 x 4 crew cab 2500 with a 6" CST lift on 35's with 40,000 miles and I have averaged 15.0 since new and I have a lead foot. It is a great package far superior to my 2005 duramax.

Ended up getting a new Chevy 2500HD 4X4 Diesel XL, love it, I have never owned a Chevy before, the body is a tad thin, like a tin can, but the 6.6 motor, I love it ! I will add fender flairs and a tad bigger tires and rims , but it is a nice truck ! I was shocked, they gave me 32,000 for my 2009 ford because it had such low miles :) , it is a long story how it all happened, and I hate to type, but they ( the dealer) screwed up, so I got 3 years of free service and 50% off on fender flairs and tires and wheels when we get back and vacation is over with !
Happy New Year to all !

You are going to love that Duramax! I have had three crew cab duallies so far. Best trucks I have ever owned with the best mileage I have ever experienced.

My 2012 ford with 3.55's and 35's gets 15 around town, 17 ish on the highway if I drive 65 to havasu, 15 if I drive 80.

My 05 duramax with a tune in it was the best mileage diesel I ever had, I could get 22-23 on the highway if I drove the speed limit. But I'll take 15 in the new ford, rides like a Cadillac and the a/c seats blow cold air all up in my junk on hot summer days. Can't beat that shit.

It got 16 going to the river towing nothing and 19 coming home towing a trailer with toys, only thing that makes since to me is because we were going downhill , I do not have the answer, but 1000% better than the ford and I kike the way it feels and drives ! First Chevy I have ever owned, I like it ! Still have 3 fords :)

I have a 2011 GMC Sierra Denali 3500 dually. I generally see 14 to 16 empty mixed in town driving, and 18 to 20 highway. I really like the truck, and like someone else said A/C seats are pretty cool.

Congrats on the new ride! Throw up a pic when you get a chance, lets see those fender flares!
