Prop Shaft Material

Might need a new prop shaft... :grumble:

1" diameter. I'd like to plan for the future and want a shaft material that will handle 650hp with a 14/15 prop. What's the cost per inch going to run me? Is there an additional charge for the keyways, taper, etc?

Jeff do you have an approximate shaft length?

I am going to sawzall the rudder guard off the trailer tomorrow. Once I get the rudder dropped down (it's bent) I'll be able to pull the prop shaft and measure it. I'll need the new shaft to be about 1/4 longer than the existing. I cut this one down a year or two ago to move the prop forward and might have been a little too aggressive with the length reduction.
