Posted this in the other thread, With Dave's wisdom I'll post it here also.

Got everything installed in the boat, sounded great for about 12 hours and then the shit hit the fan. The RF T10001bp amp I have (3 yrs old) took a shit on me I think. The gain and freq. dials are shorting out, When I go to turn the system on after being off for a few hours the rear subs are just booming with full volume feedback with no beat, just solid bump and really fricken loud. I will touch the dials on the amp and it will go away, I can touch them again and it will feedback at full volume again. I have checked and rewired the whole system twice so grounding/power & sub wires is not the problem I am sure of.
RF wants 230.00 to fix it, so my question is How much is a better amp ? I have had 2 RF amps go bad for no reason and thinking of switching.
Thanks for any and all imput

What size/how many channels amp are you replacing?

Unless your talking about a huge RF I would say paying $230.00 to fix a $300.00 amp is retarded.

This site has some good buys. Hard to go wrong with the kicker, alpine,jl amps. Alot of guys like the Memphis stuff as well and it seems to be priced well.

It's a 1 channel amp, MSRP on it is 799.00, I have seen it online for about 700.00 but haven't looked too hard. I got it 3 years ago on a dealers price thing and only paid 200.00 for it so just thinking is it worth paying 230.00 to fix it.
Here's a link to it:

It's still alot of amp for $230.00. Not sure fosgate would be my first choice in a boat but that would pound pretty good hooked to a couple 12" L5's in a car:D
