On the truck we may get, the receiver is bigger than all our hitches, it is not normal, is there a sleeve or something, I went to pep boys and a few other places, and all they sell are the ones like in the picture I attached, or do I have to get the dealer to get me the correct hitch, it looks like 2.5 inches or 3 inches , any suggestions ?

They sell an attachment that go over the hitch you have

New hitch is a probably a class 5. you need a sleeve that the standard receiver fits into.

they usually come with them. My 2500 HD came with the sleeve adaptor but I didnt feel comfortorable with a adaptor so I just bought a class V hitch and ball

Its a 2500HD 4X4 6.6 Allison Diesel , I saw the sleeve thing, and it is a tad cheesy and lots of wiggle on it, just seems wrong to me, they are going to get me whatever I want, so its called a class 5, will write that down , thanks !

I have a GMC 2500 HD with the same hitch. The sleeve does have some wiggle in it but it has worked fine pulling my boat. Good luck.

Just came from the dealer, they say ( maybe) their hitch and sleeve has less wiggle he thinks/hopes :)

Even without a sleeve there is a little play. You can drill and tap it from below and put a bolt to eliminate play but I dont worry about it. Any trailer store will have a 2.5" reciever to fit it. Lowes and all the Auto stores will only carry 2". With your boat the sleeve is fine. 8,000Lbs plus then ditch the sleeve.

My 2500 came with the sleeve and I have a 10" Drop Rapid Hitch. Been towing with it for 4 years, no problems.

no issues here with the sleeve on any of the trucks, and we probably tow way more than it's rated for...
