I Decided to get my carpet steam cleaned out of my 99 tahoe through a friends detail shop.(Me removing the interior and carpet) However He got slammed and my carpet was on the back burner. This gave me to much time to think as I was denied vacation (Had planned to Drive to Glendora, to pick up the 505 BBC from Barry "Obnoxious" . So after driving around with two buckets bolted in a lowered tahoe with no interior. I made the commitment to get started. I have wanted to upgrade my power wires from 8 to 4 gauge and clean all the wires up, so that they can be hidder under the carpet and interior. So I dig through my boxes and have come up with a memphis 4 gauge amp kit I have had for dual amps and a distribution block. While doing that I noticed I had some left over dynamat and thought why not, it's the best time to do it. And I thought if your going to do it, do it right. So off come the 4 door panels and barn door panels for inner and outer skin install, and floor front to back. And this is how A project gets snoballed, Right before the holidays no doubt.
I am on week three and this is where I sit.

Holy crap that's a lot of dynamat!
I thought I'd read you only need 25% coverage, at least according to one of Dynamat's competitors. I've only done my doors in the past, and will be on this truck as well. How much did you notice it without the carpet?

I wanted to do just my doors, but damn...that shit is pricey.
I ended up doing the areas around the speakers only, made a small difference.
With that much dynamat, your truck should have tomb-like quietness :thumbsup

I did my old ranger and one of these days when I have time will do my Dodge. I used the cascade products on my ranger and sound deadened every panel in the truck.

I used 3 Boxes of the extreme- 9 sheets: 36 square feet each. I have 2 sheets left.
I was referenced to Amazon for a killer deal with free standard shipping. If my only choice was to pay retail it would not have gotten done. Bought one every two months, so the financial hit was not astronomical.
It is so much more quieter. I can not imagine 25 percent would do the trick for sound, I still need to install the carpet interior and put in the two JL 8's in a sealed box that fits underneath the back seat to take full advantage of the system.
I changed to the 8's from a worn out kenwood 10 in a bandpass box that I had in the back. I miss some of the low's but I like having everything out of the way, and it certainly is punchy now.

I think it's acting as a noise barrier now as well as dampening. Guys that go all out (sound quality wise) I think use a bit of dampener to remove harmonics, but then use a barrier to keep out road noise. That much dampener is probably doing a bit of both.
I've been using stuff from these guys http://www.secondskinaudio.com/index.php usually on sale for a little cheaper than dynamat I think. Would like to just do the whole interior someday to be positive it's enough.

During the long weekend break, I dedicated some time to get the wiring done and interior in. About 95 percent done. I thought I bagged all the little interior trim pieces screws. So that I would not be missing any:swear
Here are some pictures of final install.

Amplifier Install in the back on side panels. Good Symetrical fit and out of the way. they were installed under the rear seats. But with the sub box change they had to find a new location.

That's a cool box. I have a 99 Burb. It's a trip to see all that. :thumbsup

Thanks, it was a craigslist find! $120.00 with the subs. I miss some of the lows from the 10 inch bandpass box, but listening to all types of music, the 2-8's sound much better overall.

Amazon.com: dynamat
I bought mine off of Amazon, 120 something for 36 sq feet, Free shipping option, it arrived at the shop within a week. Looks like it went up a few dollars, but still alot cheaper than retail. Someone else can probably chime in on other brands, and I am sure they do just as well.
Here is a picture of the tahoe, and being lowered with 40 series tires, it is amazingly quiet going down the road, even going over bumpy roads

Very cool. I wanted to do Dynamat on my old Monte Carlo SS that was in quite a few of those old stereo competitions back in 1987-1989 but I never got around to it.
