Looks like it's time to start building some boats.:thumbsup;) Paint booth is up.

For those who have been following along, my boat will NOT have the quad rotor motor in it. It's been sold and going in a customers Trident. I'm jealous that I never got to use it before the motor and drive package was sold. It dynoed yesterday at 1090hp @ 7lbs of boost on 91 octane. Somebody's going to be Sharpening The Cutting Edge like a mofo.........

Our first demo boat will probably have 525 in it, being how it's probably the most popular performance motor on the market. I'm a big fan of the Ilmor, but there is interest in this motor package, especially to "compare" to the other deck boats with the same power.

Post a pic of my boat Scotty. Im honored and excited to become a dealer. I could have used the party machine in Moabi this weekend.:hmm

Demo anyone?:beer

Thanks Greg, hows the boat been running? I still think your boat is one of the better looking boats I've ever had at my shop.;)

No problem on the ride, we just want to get it on the water and get some people in it, buying is not required, having fun is...............:)

Looking forward to seeing the new boats! Especially some real world, non disputable #'s with a very common engine pkg. :)

Now that the paint booth is up, I gotta give ole Inskeep a call.. :D

We should be starting within the next couple of days. We will be sure to keep everyone updated with what’s going on every step of the way and this seems like the perfect thread to show the build process for Paul's first Trident.

As far as graphics are concerned, we are keeping things relatively simple but classic. The base will be all metallic silver and the main graphic color will be a dark silver metallic.

I believe so..... pretty sure he did Phatt Matts boat. I consider myself decent in the design arena but if I was doing a boat I would ask for his assistance.

I guess we'll have to sharpen the cutting edge and do some Candy Red or Silver paint on the motor or something to make it match. (I can see Wes shaking his head now...........fockin Paul......):D

We actually got an "over the counter" permit for the first phase of construction, which begins this morning!

I am not going to get into it, but imagine this... My GC from the old building tells me he can do all of our TI's, knows the new landlord really well and will get me max bang for my buck. I give him the job. That was April. He "got the engineering done" and "submitted the plans to the county" one month later after being pestered by me every day for that entire period. He was going to take care of it, nothing to worry about.

"Don't I need to give you some money down?" I asked?
"We can settle up later, I know you are good for it..." was the reply. "Nothing we can do now but wait... 6-8 weeks."

So I wait. Six weeks. Then I start calling in favors with guys who know guys to get my permits fast tracked. Except for one little detail...

There are no permits in process!

He just lied to me, bald faced. No engineering, no electrical, no title 24 calcs, all bullshit. Figured the lie bought him time to get caught up on the project I guess, knowing I wouldn't be up his ass every day if we were "waiting on the county".

Fast forward to 4 weeks ago when I had to find a new TI guy, get the permits fast tracked, get the engineering done, etc... Here we are five months after moving in with no electrical in the big space. What a debacle.

But, we are rolling now. Cutting the penetrations this week, have electrical by Friday with any luck.

Off to the races now! :D

It never ceases to amaze me what some people are capable of doing to others! Nothing like a lieing Contractor to make your day. It is a shame, as it gives lots of other honest Contractors a bad reputation just by being in the same business as these jerks.

Good luck with the new guy. Sounds like you are in good hands now...

Here are a couple pictures of Paul's GT 1200 motor. The Dyno sheet shows that it is tuned to 1086hp at 6500rpm with over 900 ft/lbs of torque running on 91 pump gas. The motor may be built to last but its a good thing Paul services his own drives. Lots of TLC will be required for anything to last beind this monster.

As requested, a couple of progress pictures of the boat we just popped out of the mold late friday afternoon. It is currently getting capped and bonded and will be cut and buffed starting later today. This boat was originally going to get the GT 1200 but with lots of concern for the customer, we talked him down to the 710. Not that 105 in a deck is any less impressive.

More pictures to follow. I will be sure to post some pictures of it in the sun as the matel flake and pearls are pretty tough to see inside the shop.

That's going to be a pretty boat. I assume the silver is all metalic? Is the boat all silver or is the liner inside white? Nice job guys.:thumbsup

With some purple carbon fiber piping or accents and purple and clear anodized hardware. It should be off the hook. Nice job Scott and Wes.

Looks Great!! Are we going to see this build from start to finish?

RD

Absolutely. We are working pretty hard trying to fit in our website among the myriad things to do every day, but I have Craig tasked to the gills working on it as we speak.

The new gallery and build section will feature a daily updated section of pics of each boat during construction, and then it will be archived and the best of the pics will go to the "In Process" gallery to describe various elements of the build.

I think it is important to see the boat, how it fits and how it is constructed prior to it being assembled. It is easy enough to hide trash construction and poor fitment once everything is together... what is difficult is to show every aspect of it under a microscope and open for scrutiny.

On that note, I encourage anyone who knows composites to take a good look at the core fitment and type on that above picture before it was bonded... 1.5" thickness on all the bulkheads and less than a 1/16" tolerance on all perimeters, but not touching on any. It is important to space the bulkheads very slightly to avoid having a transfer where your bulkheads are, even if the boat is 1 5/8" thick on the hullsides...

nice...

I noticed in another boat at the recent trials that illmor now has a 570? Did they replace the 550?

If so where did they get the 20 extra HP? Any HP changes to the rest of the line?

I guess it was tough to keep the HP down to 550 honestly. They bumped the power to go hp for hp with the 525 Merc, which is measured at the prop. Closer to 570 at the motor, which is where Ilmor measures it.

Out of curiosity, how fast did that boat go with the 570, and where is the evaluation?

Base is all metallic silver... I am a glutton for punishment evidently...

All silver is really hard to do right. We are getting the hang of it though apparently, and every time someone sees the purple/silver boat silver becomes the new base color...

This will have the Quadrotor in it... :hotdevil
