anyone know vw1.8t engines (mystery part)

This was inside the wastegate port of the turbo on my families 99 passat 1.8 turbo. It started one day and had no power like the turbo wasnt kicking in so I yanked the cat 1st then the turbo.

I was running fine but just no power. Idled fine and started up fine.

Some of you old ski racers will remember Dave Mc Kee (Magoo) from the Region 3 days of the late 70's and well into the 80's. Dave was the funniest guy on the mike, knew a little dirt about every driver, observer and skiier and let it be known to everyone. NOBODY was safe and they all loved it. He loved to pick on Pete, Gary Steele, Vic Edelbrock, Jerry Herbst, Pat Banjamin, Jimmy Anderson and all the others.
My friend passed this morning at 5:05 AM after a tough, fierce battle with cancer that finally raveged his body.

Dave was a fierce competitor on the water also. Pulled some of the best when he could and ran the semi and main hotboat races.

Anyone out there that remembers Dave and I and our antics, on and off the race course will tell you that each of us was probably the cause for each of our divorces!

We had Jimmy Anderson build our 23' Hallett in 1978. We were pretty hot shit then with a "Big Boat". Many funny stories go along with that also!

I was a big Donna Summer fan in those days, Dave would always laugh at me when "Bad Girls" was playing on the cassette. He'd always say "BEEP BEEP, TOOT TOOT your ass! Ironically, Donna Summer passed today also.

I could go on and on but just like life, it has to stop somewhere.

Rest in Peace good friend, you had a good run!
