I bought this F100 here from a member about 6 months ago, as a shop project truck. Its starting to come together and I wanted to share some of the progress. When I picked it up it wasn't running, but most parts were there to get it going. The truck had obviously been sitting for a while, and needed most everything but the price was fair and a shortbed F100 is getting harder to find in decent condition. Started the tear down, and briefly considered keeping the old school 4 shock Auto-Fab front end setup, but decided a simple 3" coilover would be cleaner and easier. For now the 390 is put back together, and runs pretty well. May consider a 358 in the future-the 390 isn't exactly powerful. The goal is a semi-period looking truck, with some updates to make it a nice driver.

With most of the front stripped, the radius arms got plated (for appearance only), and the shocks got mounted with some very simple hoops.

I used LGE/CTS (L&G) to do the paint, and they did a fantastic job.

I was happy with the wheel design, but they were supposed to be clear coat, (aluminum color) not black. The black wheel seems to disappear, and you cant see the style/design. I painted 2 of the wheels, and will mount them tomorrow to see how they look.

Thanks guys-Ill keep the thread updated as I can. I'm liking the wheel color so far, I was going for less gloss, more along the lines of a Dow 7/Mag coat but I think this will be easier to clean in the long run.

Rad....I considered the truck and wanted to do something similar but when I saw more photos and the body damage I had to pass because I knew it would cost more than I was willing to spend.

Nice job!![emoji41]

The bedsides are the factory steel sides, cut in the back and "pulled". You just cut the inner support, and with the help of a 2x4 and a bottle jack you flare them, then weld patches in the inner support.

That's exactly what I thought they were. Cut and pulled. You don't see that done cleanly much nowadays.

Saw this pic somewhere a while back and saved it. The gold color works good.

Very nice work.

Those F100s are cool. Short bed makes it even better.

My best friend had an F100 that he bought and did a full body off resto with. He put a built fuel injected 10:1 460 in it along with a Ford 9" with lockers in the front and rear. It was lifted and sat on 36's, it was a great looking truck and It was a beast to say the least.

I wanted to put chrome bumpers on the truck, but with the rear quarters being cut it wasn't going to look right. Starting with a stock replacement bumper and a plasma cutter i shortened it about 3 inches, and then cut around the quarters under the tailgate in order to move it under the tailgate about 2 inches. I built new mounting brackets, then painted the backside and edges of the bumper to hopefully stop the bare metal from rusting. If that becomes an issue in the future i can have it re-chromed. Pretty happy with the results.

Added some small wheel spacers to fill the fenders a bit better, and delivered the truck to the owner. It was built to be his son's first truck. They drove it for the weekend, loved it, but it's back in the shop now to get air conditioning.
