    Never ending projects

I'm pretty sure I need to pull the motor in the jet boat, I thought it was a valvetrain issue but everything has checked out good there by me and 2nd opinions. Pulling the motor out and then apart is the easy part, I have the tools and can make the time when the kids are not with me. Its...

    Never ending projects

Any of you guys just get fed up and liquidate everything? If so, what was the final tipping point? I've always worked on my own stuff and made it better or fit my needs better, usually buy things cheap because that's what I can afford. Lately I just don't feel like I'm making any forward...

'81 Hondo runner bottom "Flat Loose"

Seats are mounted. I had all the pedals out too and took some time to clean off all the over spray. I also opened up the cav pedals box and I'm glad I did. The gears inside would have bound up from all the rust and dried up grease. I think the up pedal got put back in one tooth off so I...

'81 Hondo runner bottom "Flat Loose"

Im putting this here because after looking at my pics on the computer vs. the phone I thought Id see if those allen bolt covers were still available, turns out they are! Im not sure I really want to go all out and buy new stuff but I have a bunch from the original install and I think its period...

NEED A SMALL TUNNEL HULL TRAILER FOR A WEEK OR 3.

I have worked on that boat and trailer and have tools in town, cherry picker, floor jacks and jack stands. I know where there's a fork lift and A frame as well, those are a little harder to transport though. If you want a hand getting it on to Danny dp70's dolly I will help

'81 Hondo runner bottom "Flat Loose"

Well, one down! I have the other side all marked up to drill, I'll probably do that tonight. I ended up making these brackets level with the stringers and motor rails. If I feel that I need some forward angle to the driver's seat I can make another set of brackets. I'm trying not to add a...

    78 Hondo - Cavitation plate questions :)

Yup, that's the 1! That hull and Speedy's are the same I'd bet. Maybe not weight and set up, but they came out of the same mold.

    78 Hondo - Cavitation plate questions :)

Yes, it's a runner bottom. HIN #'s weren't required until '73 and I believe that your hull is a year or 2 earlier than that, you probably won't find any numbers on the hull. My '71 doesn't have any numbers that I have ever found. My newest boat is an '81 and that HIN is clear as day And yes, I...

    78 Hondo - Cavitation plate questions :)

You're not going to find the drop chines at the transom like my boat. This one stops at the plate because the plate runs the full width of the hull.

    78 Hondo - Cavitation plate questions :)

It's definitely an early Hondo runner. It's also a straight deck so likely it's a pre '73 hull. The transom is one level plate but there is a relief behind the strut that accepts the center blast plate that will hang lower than the runners. These hulls didn't have full length outer chines, they...

@Speedyzee I'll get you some pics when the sun comes back out tomorrow, I need to uncover the boat after today's rain anyways. For now, here's a pic of my plates And a link to my project https://www.riverdavesplace.com/forums/threads/81-hondo-runner-bottom-flat-loose.209075/

    78 Hondo - Cavitation plate questions :)

Thats defiantly the plate that you need! If it were mine, I would machine the cav rod to accept at least the 3 turnbuckles that are there, or make a new plate with 4. I find it hard to believe that it was set up as a fixed plate but it appears that it could be the case with all the holes...

    78 Hondo - Cavitation plate questions :)

Im going to say that you have an early Hondo runner bottom, like a '71-72 era. Yes it is missing some plate hardware. I can also tell that the bunks are in the wrong position on that trailer. The center plate is also the blast plate and will fill in that void above the prop. It should come...
