    Transmission Question

I would use those, that's what I ran in my turbo charged ski race boat, no issues. Like Jeremy says, .100" end play is good. Make sure it's not too tight, you will take out the rear main bearing in the engine. I would use the heavy flywheel in most applications. For ski racing it made a...

Octane Boosters, a question for the brain trust

OK, I would still try backing off the timing a couple of degrees. I thought maybe you had a Pontiac in an old flatbottom, like one of my old builds for a friend's Nescher flat.

Octane Boosters, a question for the brain trust

What type of boat? What type AF meter? It would be easy to back timing off to 30 degrees and see if it helps. I won't argue against the distributor curve. I guess most of the time I set them up for all in by 2400 RPM. Back when I worked for Gale Banks we used to get in drums of Aniline...

“Hand Held” Welder. Worth a look:

So after watching the one video, Youtube now thinks I should see all sorts of videos about cheap welders. This guy claims he bought one for $15 and then the price dropped to $10.39

“Hand Held” Welder. Worth a look:

I don't know what the small Lincoln wire feed welders go for currently, but don't see this one having too much more welding power. It's sort of a novelty type item, 20% duty cycle means you can't do anything big with it before it melts in your hands. My first thought was if it was battery...

    Engine run stands anyone ?

If you look closely, this was some sort of table originally I guess. The base is simply 2 x 4's with the wood across them. I upgraded the wheels after it was given to me and bolted on the cross members. The 2 x 4's on top are simply risers since I was running a SBC that had a problem with the...

    Brand new 489 BBC

This one should make some power, for sure. I would be happy to do something with the tall deck when you are ready.

    Brand new 489 BBC

Less than what he has in it, I can honestly tell you that. Besides what he spent with me he also provided the powder coated oil pan and new valve covers.

    Engine run stands anyone ?

Tom, I've got one, but in the past have even run stuff on the engine cradles that are available for like $40 from Summit and Jegs. The stand that I currently have was purpose built, but not commercially done, and I have it drilled so I can run an engine on one of the cradles, then unbolt the...

    GBR sucks. Games boys racing

I stand corrected, they are the following weekend. Always something going on out here. Of course we all carry cell phones, could have given me a heads up and I could have got the photographer for the Parker Tribune over here too!

    Vandenberg launch - 7:30pm

Of course while I was in the shop adjusting valves! Basic FYI for you guys, as a photographer, I think the most of the cell phones do better shooting video than stills, based on my previous experience. Regular dSLR you can manually set it to get the exposure you want.

    GBR sucks. Games boys racing

I didn't ask him. GN has traditionally been for conventional roots type blowers, but know they were talking about Whipples. Not quite sure how twin Whipples fits in there.

    Vandenberg launch - 7:30pm

Thanks Shane, I know they are in a hurry to get more up there since there are only 5500 of them orbiting so far, based on what I read. Wonder how many things they do besides providing internet service, hmmm?
