A family member we visited over Thanksgiving give me this Manx. I have wanted it for years, and he has finally had enough of it sitting. The motor and trans were rebuilt about 10 years ago, and since has only put 500 miles on it. Tube chassis, IRS. The plan is a full build over the next year. New full tube A-arm chassis, 4x4 rear arms. And keeping it street legal will be the best part. Now to start collecting parts.

You'd love our friend's CA-plated Manx.
Outfront-built Subie turbo motor.
Big suspension, it's a monster.
One of my favorite cars, I'd love to own one.

I stole this pic from his FB page:

That's pretty much why I m making this into, only with an original body. For now I'll keep the VW motor, maybe do a dual carb setup, cams and rockers, and later go bigger. I am a fan of the ecotec motors. I am doing the same suspension as the desert cars I build. Shown here.

I love the Ecotec. Would you mind emailing me some pictures of your car? [email protected]

I will email you some pictures later tonight when I get home.

Kinda funny the guy I bought the car from was also a fabricator and had a shop called "Metal Works", see the old graphics on the car.

Was that guy out of Fontana or Rancho Cucamonga area?

Almost had him do my baja back in the day.

Yes, When I bought the car a few years back he was in Yucaipa (SP) but he was into building buggies. Super cool guy also does gates, handrails, etc...

That's funny. Not only similar name, but the same work as well. Mainly off road, but if a gate job comes around- easy money. I will be picking up the car in Feb. this won't be a quick build, but a quality build, that will be strong and last for years to come. Starting to collect parts now. Little at a time. Toying with the idea of selling the Nordic to fund this, since we now have the pontoon. We'll see

If anyone has or will have in the future, VW based parts, let know. I'll be needing seats, belts, exhaust etc... All kinds of stuff

So I have tarted collecting parts for the Manx. Got a killer deal on a set of brand new never ran boxes 3x3 trailing arms, and custom chromoly torsion housing. I also got a billet a-arm rack and pinion.

Nice. You'll make some good power, but I gotta say, that's the one motor I personally want nothing to do with. Just me. There's soo much stuff to go wrong, I've had bad luck.
In my parts collections quest, I scored a set of Carmen Ghia front disc brakes for $20. Not super great aftermarket, but a good start that's easy to upgrade. Also working on my design for the front bulkhead

So I am picking up the Manx over Presidents Day weekend, but in the meantime a buddy of mine picked up a nice little Manx project himself. needs some work as it has been sitting for a few years. He brought it to me to update and fix some stuff. I cut off the roof and back half, rebuilt. Doing new rear shock mounts, fixing a bunch of hoakey thing throught etc...

This Manx is just about ready for final assembly. Chassis is at powdercoat, and the body just got back from paint. New wheels and tires are on and fitted. New disc brakes. This thing is going to be sick when it's done.

The Metaworx Manx is about 95% completed. Need to finalize wiring, mount throttle cable and fuel pressure regulator, and get the 30" lightbar mounted. This thing has come a hell of a long way in a short amount of time.

The orange Manx is done. Installed 30" curved LED lightbar, taillight box, spare tire mount and some other small items. Just finalizing some tuning issue that we have been chasing for a little while now. Not knowing anything about the 2276 motor that came with the car, is making it a little more difficult. A soon as it is running as good as it looks, she is off to the desert for a photo shoot and bombing. image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg
