Hello if you have a 28 Bullett would you please post pictures of it and anything you'd say possitive or negative likes or dislikes loves but this is kinda wierd about the boat. After 15 years with my 1996 DCB 25 Eagle (yes I know it's an Eliminator) I have sent my Deposit to Gene and mike for a 28 Bullet. I am excited as a kid waiting for Christmas. so perdy please any thing Howard Custom Boats. THANK YOU!

Congrats!

I was up at Howard a few weeks ago and saw your boat! I have a 25 and love the boat. Gene and Mike build great boats and are great to deal with. You will love your new boat.

Mine is also a 25 but I love it! The only thing I would consider replacing it with is a brand new Howard deck boat. She rides very smooth at all speeds. Handles the busy Havasu weekends with no back aches. you will absolutely love your 28 bullet. The boat has such nice lines that will always look good. The boats are really well thought out. I took these last weekend while I was eating at the springs.

I know its tuff to decide between the V and Cat. last year I had a dilemma to repower my bullet with big inch blower motor or sell it and get a deck. I ended up not doing either and bought a river house and installed a pool. One day Ill be in your shoes hopefully. I think you made the best decision by going with Howard. I also know you'll be very happy with your 28. are you putting a cool twist on anything? like custom gauges? engine scoop? or a real trick interior. Also if I can recommend one thing that my boat does not have. The Bimini when down lays on the gunnel. some of the Howard bullets have these little billet arms that elevate it just enough so it sits above and does not damage the beautiful gel coat. If you ask mike hell know what I am talking about.

The Merc 565 power package is the one variable in my mind. not tomany people have this so kinda hard to get a real feel for it. I know its probably way out of my league as a tinkerer but, I wanted resonably fast amd more important reliable....... I hope. As far as tricks to interior, Mostly white. I'm trying for simple and clean look. I am having Gene and Mike put two ice chest coolers one on each side. They use Livorsi Gauges standard w/ a GPS speedo so that is fine with me. The Merc smart craft is going to be a little bit of a learning curve.

I just hope they get it done soon I'm going nuts waiting
Thank you

I think you will find the 565 to be an outstanding combination for your boat. Super reliable, good on fuel and plenty of power. Waiting is the hard part, but you will find you will keep your boat for a long time. For us we have had our for 8.5 years, longest I ever owned any boat. I plan to build a deck boat when my kids get older and give this one to them.

Hope to see your new boat on the water soon!

I saw your other thread and see Mike found a solution so no scoop! Good news. Also love the hidden bimmini on the Orange 28. Only downside I see to that set up is the rails are in the area of the passenger arm rests. Mine lays across the back behind the hatch outside. What is interesting is the gel coat underneath looks fine 8 years later - I always detail when we do the boat - not showing scratch's - and we don't have anytihng holding it off the deck.

The new set up under the hatch is the way to go though.

What will your interior be like? Seems the Orange boat has the "old school" interior like my 25 - have they gone back to that from what they had been doing recently?

Gene gave me my choice on the interior. I wanted a flat back bench and I liked the older style front buckets they felt more comfortable. I thought the high back newer style seats were not as comfortable and I didn't really like the looks as much in the bullett. They look cool in the Cat though.

Ya I went to meet with Gene and Mike. Some of the engine compartment questions that came up we used your boat to answer them so I got a pretty good look at it. Powell looks fun. I'm an old havasu guy so it will be new territory for me. Hope the waits not to much longer for you.

Cool, so you have a 288 on order? are going to be the 3rd one out of the mold. What part of So. Utah are you in. if your in the St. George area you are only a couple hours tow away from Powell. For me its 4.5 to 5 hours to Bullfrog from Salt Lake. are you a resent Utah transplant? if so welcome. Congrats on your new boat purchase.

I'm actually number two. The blue/white & silver. I'm in St. George now for about a year or so. Came from the Bullhead area in Arizona. There's a few peeps I've met so far out here that do the 2 hour drive to Powell frequently. 4-5 hour times remind me of the twice a month trips to Havasu when I lived in SoCal. The ride to the river sucked with all the traffic and the ride home was worse being burnt, dehydrated and broke from the casinos. After about 5 years of that we just moved. When do you pick up your boat?

right on # 2 blue one I've seen some pictures, again congrats. last Friday Mike told me he was waiting on a couple of parts and that it should be ready for delivery end of this week . I'm going to try to get it registered before I pick it up. Gene sent me a bunch of stuff to help I have to go to the DMV and have been to busy at work to do it. I am going to receive it in Havasu and I want to rip around the lake for a little bit before I drag it home. I don't want to get harrased by the fish cops. Are you going to do a build write up on your new boat? I'd love to watch it come together.

I'm hoping to get enough updates to do a thread. They are hoping to have it done around second week of July. Pretty tight time frame. Registration and sales tax for Utah I'm sure is a pain. I still have out of state options. Helps out on NO sales tax and much cheaper registration with a perm tag from the get go!

I agree completely if you have means of licensing in Nevada, man I would. I thought of trying Arizona It would've only saved me a couple of bucks and I boat mostly at Powell from the Utah side. I rember back in the early 80's watching my uncle trying to talk his way out of a ticket on the Bullfrog ramp. The ranger was wondering why he had AZ bow numbers and Utah plates on the truck and trailor..... It was some funny stuff :D
