I picked up a new ride too... it's much faster than the old bike already, and I'm still dialing in the fit. uploadfromtaptalk1458432879249.jpg uploadfromtaptalk1458432894150.jpg

So I finally picked up a bike. Needed something to get me out of the house. Been mostly riding the streets and at the beach but I'm trying to find some fun dirt places to ride. We have a spot over by the coast called Del Cerro park that I've heard is fun. Probably check it out in a week or so. I'm so out of shape it's gonna take me a while to get the stamina up. This is what I picked up.

Very cool. There are some good rides over by Palos Verde. Get a copy of the book. "Where To Bike Los Angeles Mountain Biking" It shows the rides and others near you.[emoji106]

I'm still riding 3 days a week buddy. I went off this small cliff about a month ago. Crashed hard at the bottom and bruised my femur, got a nice sprocket puncture above my knee and had some really good road rash to go with it. Also broke my helmet and bent my rear wheel, but didn't miss any work and only missed a week of riding. :thumbsup

I was on a new to me detour and came up on a sharp turn carrying too much speed.

Nice bike Djunkie!

Glad you didn't get injured bad. Last time I did that much damage I think I was down for three weeks[emoji30]

Didn't have much time to ride today. Had to go to my parents to do something so I figured I'd go for a short ride by their house. Rode up the street to miraleste and there's a short half mile path on the center divider with a couple little jumps that I wanted to bomb. Did it a couple times. So much fun. Going uphill sucks. Lol

I'm heading down to Newport Beach Saturday morning to ride in crystal cove. Looking forward to it. I think I have a route planned out that shouldn't kill us. If anyone has any experience with this place I'm up for recommendations.

I'll also be cruising around Newport, but on beach cruisers, nothing crazy just boardwalk stuff. Crystal cove is closer to Laguna, super bitchen area, you could cruise pch and see some great views heading north or south. Will be doing some downhill mountain biking in Webb canyon today as well:thumbsup

I finally got a chance to check out our little spot over here by the coast. Beautiful place with quite a few trails. I'll definitely be doing it a little different next time cause I sure feel like it was all uphill. Lol. Some pretty technical stuff for an amateur like myself. Was only there for about an hour but logged about 5 miles. Liking the bike. I can see where full suspension could be nice but my hard tail did just fine. I'll give it sometime and if I feel I wanna get more serious about this maybe next year I'll upgrade. Spending a few grand on full suspension is out of the question right now.

It's Del Cerro park in Palos Verdes. I don't mind climbing but some of the shit was so freaking steep I was practically dragging my bike up. Lol

It was my first time there so I was able to scope it out and see better routes. No matter what it's a steep climb coming back to the start at the top. My brother lives right by there and my parents aren't far either so I'm just gonna hit them up for rides back to the top on days I don't have much time. Lol. My brothers house is right below where I was right here.

Wow, that's a beautiful view to wake up to. You should see if there is any segments on strava you can find, maybe you can see if they are less steep to make it more fun.

I don't have strava. I'm to cheap to pay for it. Lol. I might get it though if I do this more often.

I downloaded the app a couple weeks ago and for some reason I thought it said there was a monthly charge or something. I'll download it again. I've been using map my ride which seems ok

The monthly fee is only for some advanced features. Unless you have a power meter, you won't be missing anything with the free deal.

Ok I cheated today. Parked at my brothers house and had him drive me to the top. I still did some exploring so it wasn't all downhill.

I had a little wipe out today. Nothing serious, just road rash all the way up my side. Probably ride again tomorrow. :)

The brand of or fact that they arent clips?
Clipless helps keep the rubber side down. BTW, the worst part is a few days later when all the scabbing starts to get hard and you can't sleep. Keep it lubed up and clean. My stomach hurts just thinking about.

That's why I ride clipless. The 5/10 shoes are top rated too.

Last night I wrapped my wounds so I wouldn't stick to the bed sheets and ruin them. Taking off the dressing this morning wasn't overly enjoyable. Today, I'm going to leave the wounds exposed so they do scab up.

I've had my share of scrapes over the years and I consider this occurance minor. Good thing my wife is a nurse. :champagne:

Jesus. What did you do? Lol

I was descending down an off camber blind curve (fire road) at about 20mph and 4 people emerged all walking side by side. I didn't see them until the last second and they apparently didn't hear (or care about) my bear bell dinging along. I ran out of talent tying to avoid hitting the hikers. I ended up hitting the deck (and not the people) and slid down on my left side with bike. I successfully rode 2 miles back to the truck and drove home without issue.

Fucking wind here is keeping the bike parked. I’ve ridden in the wind lots but it just sucks.🤨
