Guy is selling a plug, etc to build these things. Kinda cool lookin boat. But will a 16' boat ever be popular anymore? Even some of the "budget" boats being posted these days being 30k+ for a starter 21 footer do you think there will ever be a time where small boating will be popular again?

A 16'outboard, has room for 4 or 5. That looks like a Glen L kit that somone made a plug from...I'd want to find WAY more about it before I spent anything on it.

Looks to me like he is trying to sell a potential biz for 185,000. Not a boat for 30?

I would imagine an air cooled twin cam harley motor, + sustained high rpm load from the jet drive would equal BOOM in short order. Especially if its hot outside

He's been around some of the Havasu events the last few years. promoted it as a channel or bay boat, sweet, but a little pricey, seems like it was mid to hi 30's...

I've seen that boat at a couple of local LHC boat and RV shows, but have never seen it in the water..

yup. he's selling a plug/mold/business to build these things.

but is there even a possibility of a 16 foot boat EVER becoming popular again? even if this thing was remotely affordable? (i have no clue what he's trying to sell em for...) it seems like back in the 70's 16s were the start with 21-24 being "huge" for the river/lakes. now even my 21 feels small...

It was at the lake havasu boat show. Talked to the guy for a little. He used to design mega yachts. Said he was working on a vdrive application and also a jet with a sea doo engine I believe. I wanna say he said the asking price was 30k. Cool boat for some of the smaller lakes.

IMO 16' is a great size, sucks that no one really makes them any more. A 16' with something like a 60 hp would be.a.great boat to make. If you could make it for under 20k

Being a former 16' owner... No 16' boats will never be popular again. You just simply get beat up by other boats. A 16' would be awesome if your boating days were Tuesday-Thursday on non holiday weekends. My butt would pucker and kidneys would flinch everytime I'd see a wake boat... Still kinda do actually

I think that would fit right in with the 10 and 12 ft mini crowd. How many of you guys are knocking on upper 20k for a fully rigged mini?

Larry Smith (scarab) and Bob Leach are building a 17' sport boat with a 60HP for 21k. I saw one in the mold and it basically was the old scarab jet with a reworked bottom (bigger pad, bigger strakes) and it actually was a pretty trick machine
