Heading towards Swallow cove, There is a underwater mountain top! Tore the Drive off the boat friday afternoon. When I dropped the boat off at the shop today, I was informed there was another boat there that had the drive tore off heading into swallow two weeks ago. BE CAREFUL!

Image came out smaller than expected :grumble: but its that little finger to the left of Quiet Cover

Left of quiet cove....isn't that a no-wake / idle speed zone now?

If it continues to drop much more we won't be able to use Boulder Cove to launch. Hemingway is too shallow for me. I did go by Callville Bay and their low water ramp looks good.
It looks like Callville will soon be just about the only ramp open on this side of the lake. Wouldn't want to go there on a weekend though. I may go down to Cottonwood on Mojave next time.

Launching is just ok @ Temple bar they have installed metal

in there with no issues and I mean above 40 ft,

This boat is sitting on it, boat got totaled out, crushed the v-drives up into the hull.

Would it be better at the other ramp by the dam/ casino area.
To launch my old 23 ft last year I had to go in deep to get the boat to float .
Will it be a problem with lower water levels and a larger boat ?

Just looked at the water level, has not gone down since last thur. Made it through then, so I'm going to try it today. Will let you know. Hemingway is what I think you are talking about. I don't go there now. Ramp is too shallow for me. Calville has the best ramp now. But very crowded on weekends. Would be good during the week though.

Took this picture today at Boulder Harbor. Launching is fine. But the entrance/exit to the cove is narrow and per my depth finder I saw 3 feet there! The sender is about one and 1/2 feet below my water line. I pulled the drives up to the limits. Got through fine. Keep in mind the water did not drop since last Thursday.

Like I said I don't like Hemingway because the ramp is so shallow. One time my drives were hitting while I was tied up to the dock on the ramp stern out. Trying to put a picture of the ramp at Calville Bay. Looks like the best place on this side of the Lake. Very busy there on the weekends though. Took this today at Calville

My understanding is that NPS is stabilizing the lake level (for this year) at 1080 ish.

Their projection for 2015 is 1069.
Lets hope that 'El Nino' is with us this year and we get a bunch of rain.
The water off the coast of California is warmer this year than its been in quite some time.

The ramp at TB is okay, but could be better.
The metal ramps are in, and NPS keeps pushing them down as needed.

NPS brought out an excavator/track-hoe to deepen the ramp but the operator was a wuss and didn't seem to want to get much more than the tracks wet.
There has been a 47' Nordic Cyclone successfully launched last week, AFTER the ramp was dug out.

Care and a quick assessment should be exercised before launching a big boat these days though, especially if the water level starts declining below 1080.

I'm kinda surprised they are willing to drop it below the 1075 emergency level where the water restrictions come into play. I guess we'll see.

Is that from Fukushima? ;)

Hoping to get the boat back within a week or so! launched on a buddys boat at Calville. Low water ramp was fine on saturday. I think i will be staying away from the whole swallow cove area of the lake for awhile. There is a pretty good sized island that formed just outside of calville. It gets shallow approaching it (we did from the east) but its all sand and great to hang out in. Approach slow, lift the drive, and let the it come to a stop. Wish I would have talken a picture.

I launched at Boulder Harbor Saturday no problem. At the end of the day a 40' hallett loaded up no problem, they must have dredged it some more.

I did hear on the morning radio news that Powell was going to release 10% more outflow to Mead due to above average snow pack runoff. This may actually cause the lake to come back up. :)
