Headed out east for a two month job. Rolled 860 miles today before getting a room. Ran through some pretty heavy rain in Utah and Co. I'm about 150 miles west of Denver so tomorrow will be spent visiting with my sister who lives there.

Thinking Kenny Powers.

Nice! Safe travels :thumbsup

I had to Google Kenny Powers 'cause I had no idea who he was. :yikes I'm more of a Smokey & The Bandit guy! :D:thumbup:

I was thinking about dragging the DiMarco out with me but didn't get a chance to mess with it. Have to wait until I get back for a Parker trip.

I did line up a ride on an Apache from an OSO guy when I get to Boston. Should be fun going out in that on the east coast water.

That's a long day. Drive safe

Thanks! Nothing like a shot of 5 hour energy drink to make the miles roll away! :D:thumbup:

Now I'm sitting here in the hotel room screwing around on the internet because I can't go to sleep!

House sits on the side of a mountain. Nice place but the driveways is a bear! I couldn't image dealing with it in the winter.

Their little dog, Moots (They are avid cyclists).

That quansit hut thing is a bit of an eye sore to them. Wouldn't really bother me any but they don't like it. They tried to buy it so they could get rid of it but the owner rents it out and doesn't want to sell. I told them they should volunteer to paint it camo so it would blend in to the landscape.

My sister was a hippie in the 60's and now she's just an old hippie! Anyway, she always wanted a VW bus but nither she nor her husband are mechanical and they like camping so she picked up this Westy. They looked at a bunch of them and called and emailed me about 100 times asking about them. I tried to talk them into a Subbie conversion but they couldn't find a nice one in their price range. This one is a stick shift so gives it a little more omph but still pretty slow. They may drive it to CA someday and have me do a Subaru conversion on it. I wonder if I can stuff an LSX motor in there?!:D

The Boston job was supposed to start Aug 4 but now got pushed back a week so I'm going to hang here a couple days and do some sight seeing. They really want me to move here but I'm kind of planted in So Cal and I don't know about dealing with winter up here. I've got an awesome property with a 3 car garage, a 24x60 mod building and just put up a 18x21 car port with side garage on a one acre lot. Hard to leave that set up and then there is the work thing. Roofing in CO is a half year deal so not sure what I'd do during the winter (work wise anyway).

Sure do like it up here though, lot's of great 4 wheeling, mt biking, hiking, etc. I dig all the little mountain towns too and the rustic architecture. Great motorcycling and Corvette roads too. Seams to be a fair amount of lakes but they are all pretty small and of course, no ocean.

Stay tuned for more photos of the area tomorrow.:thumbsup

I just changed the title to help avoid confusion! :D (I never heard to the TV show before).

Wait, it didn't work. I changed it in the edit but it didn't take?

Saw this big Outerlimits around St George headed south. The guy took off before I could talk to him.

I'm pretty sure that Outerlimit's is Bob Nixon's new SV43. We were out at Mead with him last weekend and he was supposed to get it on Monday morning, but it doesn't look like that happened lol.

It's a beautiful boat from the pics on Speed on the Water: http://speedonthewater.com/new-boats-engines/2098-outerlimits-finishes-teague-engine-powered-sv-43

Safe travels!

Enjoy the trip and thanks for sharing the pics, some country I've never been in or seen before.
I'd bail outta SoCal in a heartbeat fer that, but that is just me and easier said than done.

Your sis lives in a very scenic spot- I bet it's beautiful in winter with a foot of snow.
Could never get used to driving in that, tho... have friends outside of Asheville and I've seen what they have to deal with, no thank you- there's a reason I live in Florida.
Thanks for the pix- Colorado is on my bucket list and this thread has moved it up a few notches.

I couldn't agree more, to me, getting there is more than 1/2 the fun... New horizons every morning, and a lot of beautiful country to see, especially in Colorado... Seeing those pics makes me really wonder what I was thinking when I moved here to the Az desert???
Ray
PS When I came through there in 06 there was a field off the highway, (between the 15 and Denver), with about 30-35 Internationals... Scouts, Travelalls, pick ups etc etc... All lined up on dispaly, mostly just wasting away.. Did you see them???

^^^^^^^^ This makes me sad..... :( (Notice my screen name)......

We drove that way on 70 back in 2012 to take my daughter to her first year at CSU. I did not notice this field, but I did notice that the river along the 70 seems to flow UP HILL in some spots..... It was really freaking me out......

No and I would have stopped to check it out if I saw it. I had a 1964 Scout back in 1975/76. It was my first 4 wheeler and I had a blast with it.

I went out the garage to grab something out of my truck and was running down the driveway and then saw these. Holy fock! They were less than ten feet away and pretty bold. Just stood there and looked at me. I ran back inside to grab my phone and got a couple shots of them. I was surprised they hadn't run away but they just stood there until my brother in law came pulling up the driveway.

Been raining and foggy all day today. Kind of sucks as I wanted to get some sight seeing in and maybe a hike. Went for a drive and stopped by a local 4 Wheel parts and saw a couple local 4by's. Nothing special, just local rigs.

Stayed in Concordia, MO and no internet at the motel. Then pushed hard last night so too late to post.

Western CO and Kansas: Pretty flat, not a lot to see. Lot's of corn. 2000 miles of corn. And fat people that smoke. :yikes

Kanorado. They couldn't decide if they wanted to be in Kansas or Colorado!

See many Highway / State Patrol cars? We were up and down the 15 today and must have seen 10 people pulled over... or is California just saturated with CHPs?

Didn't see many until I hit NY then Dang! there was one every few miles! Some times there would be two together and had cars pulled over. Maybe because it was a Saturday but I saw more in NY than all the others put together. I though Ohio was going t be the worst.

Speaking of cops, I'm cruising along in MO and decide to get off to get gas. There highway was several lanes wide and I signal and pull to the right most lane following a slow going big rig. There are 3 exit lanes and the big rig moves to the middle leaving me in the right. I'm looking for the gas station signs trying to see which way I need to turn and see in my mirror that I'm getting light up. WTF?

Cop comes up and says I didn't signal and I was going really slow. I explain the deal, slow moving truck and looking for the gas station. I didn't mention anything about the turn signal because i didn't want to argue at this point. The cop was a young guy and asked my where I was going. I explained the whole roof project in Boston thing and we talked about it for a while. He let me go with a warning saying slow driver on the highway are usually drunk, criminals or tired. He figured I was just tired. I asked if I could take his picture but he said no and I wasn't going to push it. First time I've ever been pulled over for going too slow!

Speaking of slow, holy crap, they drive slow in the east! After rolling through the CA and NV deserts and then Utah where the speed limit was 80, dealing with 55 and 65 MPH speed limits is pretty tough. With the low limits the traffic gets all bunched up when you got 55 MPH people in the slow lane and 56 MPH people in the fast lane. :grumble:

I get my best gas mileage in Ohio, that is one flat state....averaged 19 in a truck that gets 14.

Northern New York is the route to New England, they make a fortune.

Welcome to my neck of the woods.
