First off, a big thank you to spectrapat and all his help with getting the boat. As you can see, it was a very HOT deal. Most of the interior is toast and I'm not so sure about the floor either, but thats no biggie. My back seat will fit with 1.5" on each side, so thats awesome. Theres general fire damage in a few areas, nothing too major. Theres some gelcoat damage at the helm which I can cover up with an aluminum plate for the dash, and near the transom, not sure what to do there other than paint it to re-gel it and blend it in. Otherwise transom looks to be in good shape.

floor looks to be in good shape. no dead spots but unlike the floor i put in the bahner it doesnt appear to be attached to the stringers so it feels "soft" when you walk on it. its also not a 3/4" floor either so its not as solid.

new(er) to me boat. previous owner had a little fire under the hatch so the interior is a little torched. gutting it and putting in all new just like all the other projects. hopefully i keep this one for a little longer. stripped everything out of my bahner and swapping it to the warlock. it'll look like a brand new boat when im done.

We're talking about the tractor, right?
PS I saw some room in the left hand corner.

i asked him about it and he said he's had 3 people come up to him about it. he's 100% not going to keep it but i think he at least wants to get it running. something about taking apart the carb. i gave him your number and told him to give you a ring if he ever wanted to part with it.

so here's where im at... some fiberglass damage is found on the side of the boat. at a quick glance it looks like at least 2 layers of cloth were burned... you can see the brown in behind them which is solid fiberglass. im gonna cut out the bad stuff and grind/sand a little and see just how far the damage goes. then it comes down to laying up some new glass to build that section back up. its interesting in that the areas where the carpet was, were NOT burned. it mustve acted like an insulator. theres also a layer of tape that goes across the cap joint on the inside that is all frayed and burned. so its just grinding, sanding, and getting back to good glass and seeing how much i need to build back up.

you can see the brown good layer in behind the burned... this is the tape going across the cap.

a layer of cloth burned, again... brown in behind it... hopefully its still in good shape.

not much progress, sold the bahner and played musical trailers with the boats. the good news is that the warlock fits on my trailer *PERFECTLY* no need to move bunks around. im so glad that i DIDNT move the bunks on my trailer with the bahner and procrastinated...

only thing im worried about is the weight of the motor and drive in the boat and the weight distribution on the trailer. right now without rigging its got a LOT of tongue weight.

Get 5 of your buddies to stand in the engine compartment and see if it lightens up the tongue weight.

bravo and alpha one gen 2 use the same pattern. alpha one gen 1 is the same hole, but less bolt holes, not 8.

Please let me know where you bought your money tree from. Haha. For now I'll run the alpha and be easy on it. Maybe later when the kiddo grows up and I need to tow a tube or toys I'll jump to a bravo. It's already gonna cost a few thousand to rig this boat. My throttle and steering cable are too short. Carpet. Upholstery for the front etc. wife gave me a budget.

late night seat deconstruction. gonna make a new seat frame. this one is wrecked. i think there mustve been fat girls up in the bow because they band-aid fixed it with 4 HUGE stainless bolts and a steel bar.

its interesting to see how much detail goes into making the boat, they used biaxial cloth throughout the entire boat. hull, floor, tabbing, etc. but then in the seat frames its like they covered it in home depot paint... everything is rotten and theres hokey things like that little 1' piece where they couldve just cut the panel longer on the seat sides... weird.

Cool you found a pic of it new. My guess on the interior is that it was jobbed out rather than being done in house. Warlock= Carter Reid at some point. Carter Reid = Shady dude most of the time.

yeah i searched for "warlock" and came across a few threads about warlock in general, and ultra custom. the HIN on the back is UTC aka "ultimate warlock" and its a 1996. So I'm not sure where it falls into place with all his drama. I cant say anything about the upholstery shop that did the interior, or at least the guy that built the seat frames, he apparently LOVES 1x1 framing and exterior wood screws. I pulled about 40 out of the front seat base alone. However the layup on the hull itself is awesome. Bi-axial cloth EVERYWHERE, even the tabbing for the open bow support. And the rubrail isnt going anywhere... theres probably 500 rivets holding it on.

WOW! You got it in. Not much room to work but I know you're determine to get it done. Good luck:D

It looks like that saltwater is already working away on your trailer jack and swing-a-way.

ive got MOST everything back down to GOOD glass. just gotta strip down the burned gelcoat, give the drivers side a good sanding, and then its time to start building things back up, and do re-gel. not sure if i should just tape off the whole top area and redo it in like a grey or a color or try to match the white. i could REALLY use some tips to redo it in white and to feather the edges and blend it all back together. ive heard that gel matches color when wet and dry so im thinking of wet sanding the sides and polishing it so that its all clean and matching. im probably going to use whatever i can find at west marine, since i seem to have good results with their products... although expensive.

Good job on the burn removal. I would try and match the white. A different color cap might look strange. Are you going to attempt to gel the top yourself? Have you thought about just painting the top? Have you ever talked to TRG about any of this?

yeah i think the painted/gel cap in a different color will look like a "fix." it wont match and it'll draw your eye. not to mention its on the top and any color other than white is gonna be hotter than hell.

i havent talked to TRG... i dunno who that is.

as far as doing it myself, gelcoat SEEMS pretty idiot proof. most of the videos ive seen is layering it on, sanding it smooth and flat, and then polishing it up. it'll def be a learning process for me.

A couple of thoughts here for you to consider.
There are believe it or not a shit ton of different "whites" out there. Some have a tint of blue, others a tint of yellow or black.
Standing alone it looks white, till another white is right next to it then it's "holy shit! Look at the difference in white!"

Another thought, even with a sand and buff the og white may be discolored from the heat, matching it might be a real pain to get it to feather into the old.
If it were mine I would consider tapping into that yellow stripe on the side, extending that top line that points toward the cleat up and over into the engine compartment, and extending the bottom line around the transom parallel to the trim line and meeting with the line on the other side.Basically making the top of the transom yellow.

Have you ever thought about doing non-skid with snap-in carpet?

ok so its been quite some time now. boat has just been sitting in my garage. having a kid REALLY puts the brakes on getting things done, along with having a broken truck. but the truck is back is business and now its time to get the boat moving forward. also im looking thru this thread and it seems hosting the pictures on facebook breaks the links after a while as facebook moves their images around. so going forward ill put em on my webserver. i could use tapatalk, but it sucks.

back when i got it:

you dont really realize the amount of CLEANING that is involved with a fire. there was black stuff EVERYWHERE and its hard and grimey to clean off.

as it sits now:

IMG_1754.JPG

the cockpit area and fire damage have all been cleaned up and blistered gel ground down.

IMG_1755.JPG

same with the rear area.

IMG_1756.JPG

my big question is that reapplying gelcoat in that area will be almost impossible to color match. the fire discolored the white gel along with the soot so im thinking about smoothing it all out with fiberglass and then masking off the top "cap" and painting it. along with masking off the side "swooshes" and changing the color scheme. as much as i love the jamacian yellow/green/purple i think i want something a liiiiittle more timeless/classic. also i removed the windshields but i think ill be masking off the area that it sits on and painting it black, kinda like a faux windshield.

also i have to fix the floor in the front as it looks like previous owner hit something and it broke the floor loose. the outside gel has some spider cracks, doesnt look too severe but the floor fiberglass tabbing cracked and i think with the movement and the open box front seats being bolted to it, and it alone has eventually worked itself more and more loose. should be easy stuff though. debating just grinding it back and retabbing, or just cutting the whole front section out and re-do'ing it. it feels kinda soft. plus the boat had a TON of water sitting in it when i got it.

you dont really realize the amount of CLEANING that is involved with a fire. there was black stuff EVERYWHERE and its hard and grimey to clean off.

as it sits now:

the cockpit area and fire damage have all been cleaned up and blistered gel ground down.

same with the rear area.

my big question is that reapplying gelcoat in that area will be almost impossible to color match. the fire discolored the white gel along with the soot so im thinking about smoothing it all out with fiberglass and then masking off the top "cap" and painting it. along with masking off the side "swooshes" and changing the color scheme. as much as i love the jamacian yellow/green/purple i think i want something a liiiiittle more timeless/classic. also i removed the windshields but i think ill be masking off the area that it sits on and painting it black, kinda like a faux windshield.

also i have to fix the floor in the front as it looks like previous owner hit something and it broke the floor loose. the outside gel has some spider cracks, doesnt look too severe but the floor fiberglass tabbing cracked and i think with the movement and the open box front seats being bolted to it, and it alone has eventually worked itself more and more loose. should be easy stuff though. debating just grinding it back and retabbing, or just cutting the whole front section out and re-do'ing it. it feels kinda soft. plus the boat had a TON of water sitting in it when i got it.

What about spraying new gel on vs painting it? Schurfab in Ontario is pretty affordable.

gonna do a quick color change. due to the fire the gelcoat would be impossible to match. so gonna paint the top cap, and change the stripe/swoosh colors up a bit.
