a

Wow! The change in color completely changes the personality of the boat. It looks great!

Really though, stop holding out on the info about the product! Is it paint, gel, crayons, photoshop, what?

I used interlux bright side polyurethane. Light blue and grey. Three coats each. Lots of taping! Scuffed with 320 wiped with their reducer/solvent and sprayed away. Out of the gun it looks horrible but with the reducer it lays flat. So much that their recommended application is rolled and tipped with a brush. I ended up shooting it out of a hvlp gun though.

one thing though you can see all the stainless bolts that broke off removing the deck hardware. stainless into aluminum with years of corosion doesnt mix. gonna try the old trick of boiling the parts in water to remove the corosion and then try drilling and extracting them. might have to just drill them out completely and retap... sigh.

all hardware will be white

Is bilge coat thick enough to fill in the woven roving weave on the inside of my bilge? Want to get it smooth so it's easier to clean

its def thick, but i dont think it will completely fill it in. just do a skim coat of some body filler and sand it smooth?

At this point in time, your boat looks about like mine. I am in the process of having new interior built and currently have the complete old interior in my garage. I either sell it or I'm building patio furniture from it! Wife prefers I let it go. I don't know, but may be of some interest to you. I'll make a fellow board member a great deal! I listed on Caigslist. Search Inland Empire "complete Ultra boat interior".

thanks but I'm going to be re-using my interior from my last 21 bahner that i used less than a handful of times.

only thing i dont have is the open bow seats. but i doubt you'd be willing to part with that, and maybe the hatch ram.

after a lot of wiggling and some precarious hanging on 2x4's, etc to reposition the chain, its in. needs a LOT of cleaning on the valve covers, exhaust, intake manifold, etc but thats the easy part.

Nice job.

You are a little ways from me, I see you got it in. I was going to offer up my forklift to set the motor for you.

Thanks for the offer! I need to get me a forklift some day... I'm getting too old for this manual labor stuff.

I hear that, high freeboard boats and engine hoists are usually a non starter.

I'm planning on welding some sliding legs that pin to the height needed later.

Yea, damn work distracting me from fun.

Yea, gonna follow the same angle as actual legs which are on wheels. Weld a tube to the gantry, then have a piece of pipe that just fits inside that can be slid out and pinned into place. Nice wide base and still moveble

built new seat bases a little taller than the old ones. basically had to build new ones because the old carpet was near impossible to get off. also you can see where i was triyng to cut the speaker hole larger and the damn router caught and jumped and tore a big hole. gotta patch and paint that again. grr.

old side panels for templates. the boat has a belly tank but the original side panels didnt really make use of the space in the gunnels for storage. there were cupholder pockets but no real way to access all that wasted space in there. you can store ropes, towels, flag, sandals, etc easily.

made the mid cabin side panels complete with elastic pocket. just a FYI the pocket is pre-made and only costs $6. all the wood is coated with a coat of thinned poly resin to make it water-resistant. ive also used almost 2000 staples in the side panels, seat bases, and these. theres a LOT of stapling going on.

dragged it out of the garage for the first time. im done with most of the messy cutting/grinding work so i took today to clean out the garage so i dont have to keep vacuuming everything.

i think it looks much better in the sun. i still need to buff/polish the original gelcoat, but the blue is like KAPOW blue!

2 weekends ago my dad brought out his gas shielded 220v mig and basically rewelded everything i did with my 110v welder on the trailer after running a 50' line from the panel at the back of the house. built new step pads from scratch and mounted the fenders to em. also rewelded the swing tongue, etc. i just didnt feel safe with it the way it was... safety first!!! dont really have pics of that as we were busting ass all weekend to get everything cut off, cleaned up, and rewelded.

also ive been doing misc carpet tasks such as the rear seat base and back, and the insides of the cockpit area where your feet go. also ive been taking a buffer to the original white gelcoat so that it shines like the new paint i sprayed. its a lot of work...

I'll see if i can wander out to the garage and snap some. They're just basically boxes. My fenders sit pretty wide to the trailer and couldnt really find anything "manufactured" that fit dimensions wise. So a little angle grinding to cut out the shape that was templated via cardboard, cut a little "V" at the bends with the cutting wheel, and a homemade brake and bent up some step pads and welded em on.

Also I've been waxing the crap out of the boat trying to get it pretty. As it sits now...

Still chugging away.

Battery cables are loosely in. Relay box is in. Harness is from the old boat. Dash wiring is started. Have power and illum. Gotta do the rest of the colors. Get a couple bus bars etc. it’s getting there. Put in the drivers side speaker and made a little plate to cover the hole from the side mount throttle as I have offshore throttles.
