Stayed here plenty of times clean. Free parking, free breakfast. Has a little fridge in the room and rates are pretty reasonable and walking distance to downtown restaurants and bars. If you stay in the larger high rise hotels they charge for parking and are more pricey. About a 5 minute drive to the fairgrounds. By the fairgrounds is a bad area so I would not stay near the fair grounds. Overall this hotel is pretty good and reasonable. Also they have a shuttle that will pick you up and drop you off within a 5 mile radius.

If you are looking for a really nice hotel that isn't too far from the fairgrounds, I would consider the Sheraton Crescent at I-17 and Dunlap. That was originally a Keating property and has been very well maintained over the years.

Arizona Grand is nice and Sheraton downtown are both pretty swanky.

This is as close and decent as your going to get. It's about three miles away. My parents stayed there once when they came for Xmas.

That area west of the fairgrounds is ghetto. To the East is the Encanto district and one of the nicest neighborhoods in the city.

I agree stay away from fairgrounds area.

Boy are you guys a bunch of pussies. What's next, there are no-go areas in phoenix where Sharia Law exists? There are plenty of places by the Fairgrounds that rent by the hour. :D

The only place my wife and I have ever been threatened with assault in Arizona is downtown Phoenix at night. I told her the joke about the two campers and the bear and she was not amused.

As long as you do not go out to Scottsdale or way North Phoenix, you can stay pretty much anywhere in the local area and it will only be 20 minutes or so away from the Fairgrounds. If you want to be able to walk around to eat, or take the dog on a walk, location matters.

Depending upon how much you want to spend,

The Hilton Suites, close but is a high rise with limited place to walk or eat in walking distance.

A great Bed and Breakfast down the hill from our house and 15 minutes from the Fairgrounds. They are typically dog friendly. This would be my expensive choice.

Cheap and walk to a few places to eat in the "Biltmore Area",

Next to a very nice outdoor mall where dogs are allowed and plenty of restaurants. 20 minutes to fairgrounds, less if no traffic. This would be my to choice if they allow pets and you wanted to spend a medium amount but be in a really nice area with lots to do where you could take the dog with you.

If you stay at the Hermosa you can walk your dog on Rodney's front lawn :D I would not call the Hermosa a bed a breakfast. It is very nice. Had dinner there friday night. I tried to get the Uber driver to do a burnout in Rodneys dirve but I gues he had not drank as much as I did :yikes

Not bringing a dog with us, Depending on the entries in the show we may come and try to buy a female Yellow Labrador
