What's the likelihood this thing will be produced as is? Haven't had a chance to read up. It's slick looking.

So's the new cadi concept though.

Lincoln has no platform to build the 13 YO styling mule on. Cadillac on the other hand has a true halo car on the horizon platform to base it off of.

Well, it appears I answered my own question. This is actually how it ended up looking. Still bad ass but not as "cool" as the concept.

No suicide doors....LAME!!

The production version of concept cars never quite hits that same high note as the prototype.
The shaved skin and soft radius lines like the 60's Continental look amazing.
Nice car.

Is their a rule against suicide doors or just a company decision?
The 4 door T bird had them too a few years didn't it?

Suicide doors often ditch the B-Pillar...and it's very expensive/difficult to provide side-impact protection without a pillar.

But there aren't any regs against them.
Rolls-Royce makes coupes and sedans with suicide doors, as an example

Pronstar knows this stuff better than I would but it looks like he answered the question about the same as I was thinking.

Suicide doors are just old school cool and elegant

It would never sell to the crowd they would need to sell it to. Nobody is interested in a 75k+ lincoln

That IS the concept, at least the latest one. There's really no telling what the actual production car will look like at this point.

I would think some of the design cues will remain the same.

Had a 64 Lincoln and 66 Caddy CoupeDeVille side by side. The Lincoln blown the Caddy away in every department:thumbup:
Loved the Caddy though even with it's handling like a boat without the airbags puped up. The Lincoln's ride with its leaf springs was just as smooth as the Caddy's coil suspension but it out handled the Caddy in hard cornering easily. Saw Steve McQueen driving one in one of his movies and you could tell how well the Lincoln vert handled at high speed chase. Can't remember what that movie was:grumble:

Cars today , at least to me, all look the same. Their is no distinctive lines to them. They are just bubbles on wheels.

Cool cars but I think they've priced themselves out of the market this time. A 75K starting price is way to high for a Lincoln.

I was thinking the new Lincoln would be a good car to lease as my
company car but not for that price. When you can get a loaded up Porsche or Benz for 25K less paying that kinda dough for a Lincoln seems silly.

I have been talking about this car since I saw the press release yesterday -

It looks to me like a cross between an Audi A8 in the front and the rear qtr view of a Bentley.

I love this new Lincoln!

If I did not have 2 kids in collage right now, I would be first in line to order one[emoji106]

This is a Cadillac - it was launched at Pebble a few years ago and when it came out the first thing I thought was Cadillac beat Lincoln at their own game

I think Lincoln did a great job coming from behind in this one...

Yea, the caddy is straight pimp! And I think it could definitely be a contender in the S class 7 series price range. Especially after the success with the CTSV.

They build this car, it'll sell a lot of units.

Supposedly they're using the caddy in the new Entourage movie. Replacing the old school Lincoln from the show.

Well that would be a big disappointment for me - I'm no fan of Cadillac. Not a chance I would buy any Cadillac product - I don't see myself in their advertising profile.

They are not marketing to me.

I like em.

I think the Lincoln looks like a Chrysler 300, but I'm a Dodge guy, I like them too.

Here's my 69 I had for some time , yanked the 460 out of my 74 nordic tunnel ram and all , and stuffed it in, while I had the original rebuilt. This was a bad ass car . Next one I want to do would be a convertible with a blower motor:). I had a sticker on the back made , one fine 69

I think the market they're aiming for is comfortable with that price.
You should also think of that market and how fleet sales would apply for limo/trans companies.

Love the vintage ones- one of the few Fords I would own.

Remember back in the day when you could tell what kind of car was coming towards you at night by the lights?

And that was back when everything had the same headlights!

56 Continental Mark 2. One of the most beautiful cars ever made.

The only other car I'd wanted more is the Mark II:thumbup:. They fetch pretty money if you find a pristine one.

I was pimping mine for almost 18 years with the Spectra behind it. Anytime coming back from a long weekend trip from far, someone called telling me they saw me cruising on the highway. It was an attention getter every time i pulled into a gas station.:) I work on all my cars, know the Lincoln inside out, the caddy wasn't built like the Lincoln period. I'm sure if Ford builds this concept it will be outstanding.:thumbup:The 64 Lincoln wasn't built like any other Ford product at the time!

Considering their most expensive current sedan sells for $46k, it'll be a stretch to succeed at the $75k mark.

We'll have to see what the production car looks like, how it's equipped, and what it sells for.

Lincoln is on a tear, and their global director is very smart - he hired me before he left for Lincoln :D

Never worked for a carmaker, but always thought it would be cool to have access to their sales records by state and county.
Statistics such as number of Corvettes sold in Palm Beach county or Silverados in Dallas, and how it compares with other similar markets around the country.

Given today's improved production methods, I wonder what the minimum number is they feel they would need to sell to begin production?
(don't have a link, but there's a fantastic piece on Tesla's new factory that forces this question)

Services like Polk sell that kind of data. To the industry. And of course a carmaker knows where their own sales are.

As far as minimum number of sale to make a profit, "it depends" on the vehicle...the price point...tons of factors. But generally speaking, the cheaper the car, the more you need to sell to make a business case.

But at the $75k price point, 1,000 units per month would be good volume.

Same was said about the Chrysler 300 when it came out.

Keys face it, all cats now-a days copy each other. It's very rare a true original looking vehicle hots the road.

And to further your sentiment, car designers hop around from company to company, so it's hard to have a true, 100% original, in-house style.

Classic example:
Kias began to look good (but somewhat derivative) after they hired Audi's chief designer, Peter Schreyer, in 2006.
