Hello to all. Im new to this site so forgive me if im posting this in the wrong area. I m trying to figure out what degree Casale V-Drive I have. This is a 21 Schiada RC. Ive never split the case however the midplate has 1.06 stamped on the bottom and 9 stamped on the top. From my research, I only find 8, 10, and 12 degree Casales. I would like to change the gears to a 1.12. Any help is appreciated. 2015-05-11 08.26.00.jpg 2015-05-06 16.49.47.jpg

The gears should be marked.

Try contacting "Steveo143" on here, he is local, and all he does is V drives.

Buy me a hamburger and I'll come by and measure it for you. I'm in La Habra. Send me a PM if you want.

Just talked to Stan from Schiada boats. He says ur boat was built as a 10 degree v-drive w/9 or 12% gears. He believes it's a Teague motor. Stan says to do this right, u should call Bob Teague and find out the H.P. rating of ur motor (if it hasn't been modified) and post it up here with ur size prop ur using now. Then Stan can make a recommendation of prop size and pitch, and gear size. But without the above info, u might be chasing ur tail.

Oh, and u might as well put a Collins Billet V-Drive in that baby while ur at it! Collins products can be found at D21 Enterprises. :) lol

Steveo143 or Menkens can work on your box, or sell you their own billet vdrive, and don't need a middleman to set it up, or give prop and gear recommendations. :cool.

True story.

Shouldn't you be making your parts on a drill press or something. :cool

Great. Soon as u have the motor info, throw it up here and Stan will make a recommendation. You own a Schiada now and they are always willing to help.

Spoke to Lee at Schiada about my new ride. There are no records back to 1984 but Lee says they bought a rail car full of LS6 crate engines in the early 80's. Thank you for your time Lee. I opened a valve cover to get the head stampings, #6272990 HI PERF and it comes back as a 118cc open chamber, rectangular ports. There are so many specs on the internet for different types of LS6 engines, per different block stampings, so I have no idea where to start. Previously someone stated that Teague marine might have done work on this engine, called them and they said that a stamping starting with TCM***** would be stamped on the pad by the first head bolt. No such code was there, or anywhere for that matter. Curious if anyone out there might know something about early 80's Schiada crate engines?

Derooster, could you please put up some pics of all sides of your boat. Full views. We're not having much luck determining the motor hp. Stan thinks the pics will spark a memory. Also, who did you buy it from, and or, do you know who the original owner was. Thanks

2015-05-11 08.26.00.jpg Just back in town. I appreciate the time you two are taking to help me. I bought this from Ron Wren from Nor Cal. He was the original owner. Ron is trying to find the original build sheet for me. Here are some pictures. 2015-06-13 13.43.10.jpg 2015-07-22 11.52.31.jpg 2015-07-22 11.52.48.jpg 2015-05-11 08.24.34.jpg

She's beautiful! I am just starting with the 2nd phase of the bank account reduction. Phase 1 was just finding and getting my hands on a Schiada. Your boat really looks perfect. I bet you are very proud. Well done!

Stan figures it's a 400 hp 454 (unless ur build sheet says different). It's prob a 1" prop shaft. The recommended gear would be 9%. The recommended prop would be 11.5-15 three blade round ear stainless steel. Back then Teague had this prop just for Schiada's and still might be able to get them. This is a good all around family play prop. Prob put the boat in the 63-65 mph range. Stan says that's about all 400 hp will get you. Stan also said that if you want to go faster, you can throw a big motor in it, but be prepared to change everything. Like prop shaft dia, rudder dia, beefier steering, ect.

Hope this helps. It sure is a beauty of a boat.

Toolman and Stan, Thank you for the info. Correct on the 1 inch prop shaft. the prop is a 12 X 15 cup 3 blade Nibral mix. I know this because it is getting freshened up at Wilmington Prop as we speak. GPS at Lake Mojave last week put me at 68 and I will say that there was absolutely NOTHING left. RPM;s will not budge over 5500 in 3rd gear and to the wood. Casale gears are 1.09 and just had it gone through, cleaned up and resealed. 1.09, is that reflective of 9% gears? Everything is original to the boat and in perfect shape. Well, except for the bilge pump and float switch. That's new.. Oh yeah, also the trailer tires... lol. Again, I appreciate the info guys. Thank you.
