Steve, how do you fare dollar wise on these frequent changes? I think I'm going at it all wrong. [emoji2]

You forgot Steve gets the multi purchase discount. When you buy more then 3 or 4 a year, you get the discounts. Plus Steve knows how to grind the price down and cash is king.

I have been told that there's no difference in MPGs between a gasser and a diesel. True?

pretty close... the excursion said 8.9 on the dash...7.2 doing the math.... now it probley got better on the freeway non stop...

but if you drive the gas coach 55/60 you do get pretty good milage....but like a boat... if you wanna go fast... use more gas..

Nice purchase Steve. Hope this one works for ya

I am getting 9.7 MPG at this point with the Excursion since we left AZ and are in Sturgis till next week. Over mountains, strong winds etc and pulling a short enclosed trailer. Hoping to finish up at about 10 MPG when all is said and done.

not if they are valved correct...

the new f53 chassis comes with bilstiens.... they are valved to fords engineers specs... they are horrible...
the after market bilstiens are custome valved to the motorhome and ride real plush

when I went the miles traveled to the gals used it was way off what the dash said...but I counted launching the boat, driving around town and hiway miles

Congrats 2FF on the new coach. Looks nicely laid out given the length.

Does the diesel have a lot more low end torque for towing? Easier up the grades? MPGs the same while towing or does the gasser burn more fuel while towing?

diesels take off slower and run down the road slower and up the hill slower... but seem to do it effortless... gas...you know when you are on a hill

Depends on the rig/engine/tranny configuration. Comparisons must be apples to apples. Many times a smaller lighter gas RV will be compared to a midsize or larger DP.

Typically a 35-37 DP will run circles around a 35-37 gasser. Both on accel and up a grade. No way the V10 is going to keep pace with a 8.3L to 8.9L diesel putting out north of 1200 ft/lb or torque.

In the smaller chassis like 28-33' range, the DP chassis all run small (5.9L to 6.7L) light duty truck diesels and the gassers hold their own for the most part.
