I've posted a couple of these before but my Dad just sent me the rest of them. The boat is a Howard with a 426 Hemi in it. In a couple of them you can see people riding horse on Totem Pole Point. No reverse in those old crash boxes so you just had to drift in.

He raced it for a few years up at the Lake. Keith Black built the engine for it. No idea what it's top speed was.

@Frogman524 yeah that's Lake Arrowhead off of highway 18

Very cool. Last time I was there, several years ago, the lake was so low people's docks were on dry land. Also, my parents used to own a vacation home in Lake Arrowhead at 222 Grizzly Rd in Blue Jay, just down the road from the Lake.

Here's a pic of the bay right before we dredged it this year. Unfortunately for everyone the permit wouldn't allow us to go past the bridge toward paradise bay that we did last year. Maybe next year

You guys really dug it out. Good work!!! How often does sediment fill that bay in?

It had been probably 30 years. We hit bed rock going through so it's clean and ready for more sediment. Ala is getting very active on dredging contracts and maintaining the lake

I see I need to get out of the lounge more often, hadn't seen these

Thanks for posting these AuggieBenDoggie :D Spent all my summers there for pretty much 25 years starting in 1952. My parents had a trailer located on Paradise Bay. Hell, I even remember seeing your Dad's boat. I loved flatties even as a kid, got my first taste in Tim Wallace's 'Tiny Tim' on that lake.

What I truly appreciate about you posting these Arrowhead pics is, I had boxes full of lake pics and 8mm movies we lost along with our home in a San Diego wildfire. Could give two shits about the house, but the pics can never be replaced :(

Really sad to see the lake and Paradise Bay so low, but the lake level was always changing year to year. Some years we had our docks in the river mouth below the trailer and catching trout from the little foot bridge. On the other extreme, I think it was mid-60s, the docks were moved out beyond the concrete bridge. Of course like in your Howard pics, there were no homes, not even a road other than the horse trail along the northern shore and Totem pole pt and bay.

Anyway, I came across these yesterday and just seeing them created such a flood of memories I still haven't stopped trippin --- way cool :thumbsup :D

I'm glad you like them. While it sucks that the lake is developed now at least they have moved part of the water system off lake water. That's gone a long way to slow how quickly the lake goes down.

Our dock is right across from the point. The house is near the turn off for the road to the trailer park.

The lake was home to some great flat bottoms back in the day. I did see an old 20' Howard gn on the lake a couple years ago.

Here's a photo of the house taken a few years after it was built.
