Not a lot of posting here lately but there is plenty going on in the Campbell world. There is a rather well know Campbell that is currently in the midst of a complete restoration with a top shelf guy in charge of the work. As soon as I get the green light to post pics, I will. Until then standby!!!

I know several very nice Campbell's have changed hands this year and looking forward to meeting the new owners.

Fuckin tease. :)

Ok so this might get me in trouble with the builder/owner but I will ask for forgiveness if caught!!! :):)
ps
Dont tell anyone where you saw this.... just a sample of the level of detail going on here!!!!!

Reportedly this is/was the fastest Campbell on record ??? Not sure if it is an urban legend or fact, just based on my very very quick research. I can try to confirm in September at the Regatta.

John Peters worked over at Engle cams and had the back shop next to the Dyno and put the Freight Train together I believe they used early SBC 327 motors
Hilborn, had the shop before him. My brother had the shop after John
John, left the trophy case with the times and pictures of many twin engine rides to my brother.

My co driver for this years Parker had one of Rudys crazy twin engine 427 ford v drive rides !

So I got the green light to post the pics of this incredible build. My plan is to see if I can find even more history on her than what was published, so stand by Campbell fans!!!

ps
If anyone here has additional info on this boat, feel free to chime in.

This is the way it was found, more or less rotting away.

He was a good old dude .

Please notice that; bronze, steel, and stainless don't fail (like aluminum), even when the plates are TWICE as LONG and the loading is severe .

Hope to see it running soon , thanks for the sneak peak ..........

I remember the Freight Train with twin 'early Hemi's', and local buddy Ken Theis' 'Odd Couple' as a 'small Chevy and a early Hemi' . Two of the best runners and last to run twin motors in Top Gas Dragster, as I was learning B/G motors from Big Al Weiss, 'Too Unreal' at the time .

There was a '16 candles' flat here in Havasu at a glass shop for a while . I think it is still locally owned, and it is twin small block Chevys .

Some interesting history that I had heard somewhere else but forgotten.

As told by Bob Muravez. The Renegade was the last 20 footer built out of seven. The Muravez brothers asked if they could move the deck 1 foot further forward to accommodate the two engines.
Campbell thought the boat looked so good, That they built a wooden plug to pull a mold off of just like the Renegade. So the fact is all of the fiberglass 20 footers are a copy of the Renegade. So I guess that makes it the father of all 20 foot Campbell Daycruisers.

Just for the record, this is not my work, mine is more like some hack threads, near here:yikes:yikes: The guy doing most of the work has done other notable restorations.

The back story on the steering wheel, it was sent to the original manufacture who had stopped making these kinds of steering wheels some time ago, but when they saw the project and the steering wheel, they thought it was so cool and jumped at the chance to redo the wheel.

This is an incredible restoration! Thank you for sharing! A lot of time, talent and money has been utilized to bring this boat back to its former glory. Hats off to the owner for doing such an amazing job and congratulations to the lucky folks who have had a part in this project!

Only the very early ones were wood, I think this hull dates to sometime in 1968, Everything after that had glass hulls with wood stringers and bulkheads. I have more pics I will loadup tonight.
