We rescued ludo I want to say in March. We were warned about his knees but i wasn't going to let them put him down. Although after the Doberman I said I wouldn't spend that kind of money on a dog I won't let anyone in my family be in pain if I can help it. I forget what it's called. Torn something w a c(knee). I'm hoping for a quick recovery so he can get back to going to work w my wife everyday. These are some pics I just got but they said I can't pick him up yet. Maybe some positives thoughts for this big guy.

Cruciate (sp?)ligament. My dog had the same surgery. It's a long long recovery and be absolutely diligent about keeping him immobile for a month.

Yes that's it. That's going to be the hard part. He's still a puppy with a ton of energy. I really don't want to keep him sedated but in afraid I may have to. I believe it's crate all day and he can walk to go outside and do his business but no dog door.

Thank you for taking care of me, but HEY why the embarrassing photos of my junk and sending them to all your drunken boat buddies ? I know there are some fags in that group, but you showed my photos to them anyway .

When I start feeling better, I will be giving you 'many kisses' and I will also give you 'one big bite' for showing everyone these photos .

A dog's gotta do, what a dog's gotta do ! HA HA

Yup crate and only allowed to walk (on leash) for bathroom breaks. Even when you think he's ok to go off leash.....don't. Ours was a little over a year when she Had hers.

I had my dog done by the same doc as RB, did both knees at same time TLLP surgery, titanium and screws the whole deal, first night was really rough, days 2-4 semi bad and after that not too bad, keeping him in a pen for a month was tough also as bill said. I carried him up and down satirs to take a piss for a month or so and only let him piss with leash on for the following 2 months. It has been 4 months and i can honestly say it was the best money i have ever spent, completly different dog and like a puppy again, pitbulls are pretty tough but he was in considerable pain last year or so and i was just about to have home put down so gald i didn't.

I'm afraid the second knee will need to be done as well but not sure. [emoji107]

ImageUploadedByTapatalk1449030137.389661.jpg i carried him in and in trying to make him comfortable in his crate I really pissed him off. He's never growled at me before. Got him to eat a little now letting him rest. Keeping the other dogs and Eli away

Dogs are family period.... If anyone ever hurt my pups I'd kill them and then ask the Jury to convict me. I don't have kids, but these 3 little guys are as close as it gets for me.

Vic you're a good man taking care of that little boy! I wish him a speedy recovery and I think some scooby snacks maybe a steak are in order for that boy!

That is how I thought of my dog. He was a full family member. Those that don't get that I have a hard time understanding.

Good Thread hope you pup recovers well, speaks well of the love and care you have for your companion ! We have had dogs for all our married life but they always were some what a necessary "utility" living in the country all were outside dogs , When our Golden retriever Woody passed unexpectantly last year we opted for a Chocolate Lab puppy and the wife convinced me to allow him to be an inside dog , have to say Its been a wonderful experience and we have developed a deep and unique bond

That was a rough night [emoji107]

Was thinking about you guys... showed my wife this thread. Hopefully once the anesthetic wears off and his anxiety calms, he will be chill. Poor pups have no idea what the hell is going on when they wake up :(

Poor lil guy had a friends dog go through the same surgery and he said the best thing he did was keep him off of his feet as requested by the physician. Happy and healthy dog now. Good luck!

What i did was put a pen around my couch with his bed at my feet, stayed the first 15-20 hours with him, he couldn't sit or he would get stuck in the frog position and he couldn't lay down either, came home with no cast or bandage didn't even try to lick it for a couple weeks which made it easier then putting on the cone all the time.

Hip replacement for my guy earlier this year. 4 or 5 months of recovery and now he is back to running around like a mad dog. It's a pain but is worth it.

He is so happy, it's like he knows what we did for him and is really grateful.

Hope your pup has a speedy recovery, Vic. Consider getting one of the inflatable e-collars. Way more comfortable for the pup and easier to maneuver around in the crate too. Our dog actually really enjoyed having a pillow around her neck - lol Here's a link:

http://www.amazon.com/Cloud-Inflata...087923&sr=8-9&keywords=kong+inflatable+collar

I have a medium sized one that I could give you, but I'm positive that it would be too small.

That is what i thought was wrong with my dog at first activated, thought for sure his hips were junk. Glad he is doing good. One other tip viscious keep the pain meds rolling, my GF thought they were bad for him so she didn't like giving them, i popped one in his mouth everytime i could.:D

I forgot about the pain meds, at first we hated them because it made his personality change so much. I called them his marijuana brownies because after he took one, all he wanted to do was watch cartoons, fall asleep and when he finally woke up eat all his food.

When he was feeling better, they were a lifesaver. He felt better and wanted to play but he wasn't ready. He never would have made it without them.

I know I was an ass to you last week. Based on this thread you are a stand up dad (considered my dog a kid, sounds like you do the same).

Our dog wouldn't even deal with being contained by the baby gates. We started in our master bathroom and blocked him off inside of it with a baby gate, he tried to climb over it. We moved him to the living room, he jumped over the couch. This was all within a couple weeks after surgery.

It sounds terrible but the only way he was happy was when we tied him to the kitchen table if we had to leave him. He just didn't like to be contained at all...it worked but we both felt bad about it.

I tried the sling first few times with both knees being done but it seemed to hurt and stress him so I would just walk him out with leash and lift his ass end down stairs to grass, crying is tough to take for sure, I cut my dog way back on food to cut down poop trips.

So glad to see as this really takes a real man to step up and take care of his own. We will never know (if any) what sacrifices he and his family may have made!
Hope the pup is better soon and also my son used one of those inflatable collars and it was so much better!

Did they give him a Fentanyl pain patch? If so, that can cause excessive restlessness and whining....

Looks just like my pup. Mine hurt his acl twice but manage to recoup. He has learned his own limits.
