Walking through the shop this past Tuesday morning I noticed a piece of 6 1/4" teflon bar stock on the table. I thought to my self I have a use for that and started rough cutting. When I got home from work I called Crutchfield to get some dimensions for a Rockford Fosgate PP4-T Punch Pro Tweeter, I then placed the order.
Wednesday morning, I finished boring the I.D. I then milled a flat and added four 1/4-20 tapped holes. I also added four 8-32 tapped hols on the front face. The great thing about using teflon it cuts better than butter. I cut a piece of 1/4" aluminum plate and added four 1/4" holes to match the pattern on the teflon and this plate is a support and template . I received the tweeter late Wednesday afternoon and installed the tweeter into the teflon.
Thursday, I removed my old JL Audio sub-woofer. I used double back tape on the aluminum template and stuck it inside of the sub-woofer box where I wanted to install my new tweeter. I transfer punched and drilled the four holes needed from the inside of the sub-woofer box. I installed the new tweeter securing it from inside of the sub-woofer box. I then installed the new JL Audio sub-woofer turned on my stereo and proceeded to daydream about being on the water somewhere enjoying those new highs, "Now That's Music to My Ears"...
