Good luck Dave and thanks for being there on our behalf. If I didn't have a business to run in arrowhead I'd be right by your side. Godspeed...

It was a good meeting. There was lots of good speakers who were against the proposed and past closures. I only heard one lady who wanted the closures, and she got chased out pretty fast. I'm surprised they didn't give her police escort to her car.

What would be the next step besides tomorrow's meetings?

We all have things going on in our live and some of us are too far away to attend these meetings.
Please remember RD posted a thread on 4/26 and gave an E-mail address and a regular address so you could actually write a letter in support and even gave us a basic template to help us with a letter. Please get involved !!!!

Now we wait. There were a couple congressman, Havasu's Mayor, City Manager, Director of AZ Parks, business owners, RD, etc that spoke about the negative effects of water restrictions. It was a crowded hall, most seats were filled and a standing audience in the back. With the look on people faces its seems as though this won't pass. And hopefully a reversal of last years closure at the mouth of the river is plausible.

My concern is this lady and her friends will attend the meetings May 3rd at the AVI. I encourage all boaters that can attend the meetings tomorrow to attend those as well.

When is the one at the Avi?

Tomorrow AVI. 1-3 pm and 6-8 pm

What would be the next step besides tomorrow's meetings?

Well I have approximately 1200 phone numbers now and the reach of Rdp to try and do something. Not sure what? I believe demanding the resignation of Linda Miller is a start.. Honestly I think she should be indicted because what she has done is completely illegal.

I also read on Senator John McCain's website that he has sent a letter to the US Fish and Wildlife Service addressing "Stopping Boating Restrictions in Lake Havasu". He has "expressed his concerns about its proposal to severely restrict recreational boating activities at Havasu National Wildlife Refuge in Lake Havasu City, Arizona".

I agree with this statement. When is her next bad idea going to effect our boating future.

She has multiple bad ideas and never shows up to public meetings. IMO only government employees can half ass a job and still keep it.

The reason why people like this never show is simply because they believe nobody else will either.

Wrong.

If Dr whoever does not call her to today's meetings after the showing last night then he is demonstrating his own incompetence. I am suspicious of him.

Thank you all who are there fighting this...

Let's hope this doesn't pass... It would ruin what we've all enjoyed for years and years

I was fortunate enough to have a private conversation with Dr. Tuttle during the break (the man who will make the final decision)
he is well aware of the gravity of the situation and the potential devastation it could cause Havasu and the surrounding communities. I introduced myself and who I am and what I do in Havasu (Desert Storm) after a brief "oh your that Karl" (which shocked the crap out of me) he offered his congratulations and I could see enthusiasm for what Desert Storm does for the community, We discussed the fact that I of all people in the room know what it takes to "land" a buoy on a federal water way and that his agency failed to follow even there own rules, his response was a head bow accompanied with a "your right", he knows who screwed up, he knows what he needs to do rectify it and he knows I am ready to "clock-in" and fight with every resource the boating community has afforded me over the last decade, I was left with the impression and assessment that Dr. Tuttle is a man of conscious will do the right thing, but I am keeping what I know is one of the most powerful "send to contacts" button ever created in the boating community at the ready just in case ;)

at this point I feel good that this will all blow over soon enough, but we must remain vigilant so that decisions that affect Havasu are only made by those that live here:thumbup:

I agree in part with your statement about government employees doing a half assed job. However, when it comes to managers and in this case, bureaucrats it's much more insidious. These people are the faceless puppet masters behind the curtain. They issue edicts and decrees and when it comes time for something like a public comment hearing, they go hide in the tall grass. They constantly push the envelope in terms of what they can get away with until there is some push back. Then they dial it back a little, wait until it's no longer on the radar screen and try it again.
The only effective way to deal with them is to elect politicians who don't share their agenda. A daunting task. Everybody needs to realize, that it is unlikely this Linda Miller woman will lose her job. So, boaters are now in the cross hairs and we'd better be ready to step it up again and pick up some support along the way, because this WILL keep happening.

One thing I liked was seeing him write notes every time somebody made a point against the bill.

Anyone have an auto-Dialer we can put to use blowing up these 1200 phone numbers?

United anglers out of phx

John Galbraith who owns Bass Tackle Master and who runs many of the tournaments here in Havi was quoted in the paper saying basically that our boats are ruining the shorelines.

Did you get these 1200 numbers from the people that signed up at Desert Storm that are against the bill.?

But before the construction of Hoover, Davis, Glen Canyon, and Parker dams the annual natural flooding didn't..... :rolleyes

This is the typical case of "We want to use the land, but don't want anyone else to"

With how many boaters use the lake and the epic reach of RDP, there has to be a lawyer or 2 on the boards or a lurker on the boards. If the beurocrats use their infinite wisdom and do pass this BS..... it's time to sue. This is how the off road community is having to do it in So Cal. The Blue Ribbon Coalition and CORVA have had to step up their legal arm to get shit done and it's actually starting to work.
