Ok...I'm thinking about getting rid of my 2015 F-350 (gasser, LOVE the TRUCK!!!) but, thinking about Fuel economy..

Looking at purchasing, 1/2 ton Truck 4x4 (4 door required) Gas or diesel (only towing will be my Rollbar boat , 4000#)

CHevy, Ford, Dodge/Ram

I would like to hear what your "REAL" MPG's are.........

no fudging, no flaming, I'd even think about driving a Chevy.... (I've only owned Fords)

My trucks (my hammer is always DOWN)

My old 2006 F-350 4x4 6.0 diesel got 14 mpg
My current 2015 F-350, 4x4, 6.2 Gasser is getting 12 mpg

BTW.... I need a truck that will get close to 20 mpg's.....

what do you get???

If you want mpg I don't think you'll beat a Ram 1500 diesel or Titan diesel 4x4

I must drive like crap because my 2013 Chevy 1500 4wd extended cab work truck I average only 15 mpg most of the time, if I drive only interstate miles at 75 mph I sometimes see 17 but that is the max. I have a 07 Chevy 2500 4wd Duramax CC personal truck that we took to Orlando last year and I was getting around 17 MPG on the way down, on the way home after a week at disney world I averaged about 14 mpg.

Our 2014 1500 crew cab 2x4 with the 5.3 gets amazing mpg.

The most recent generation trucks are light years ahead of the 07-13

We typically average over 18 mpg round trip to Parker and back. We took the truck to Vegas and averaging probably 85+ mph we got nearly 20 mpg round trip.

Blows me away every time I drive it. On the flip side my wife averages around 13 mph around town racing light to light...lol

Well that is good to know, we bought a new 2015 LTZ Tahoe last year, and I haven't paid attention to what she is averaging on it. I figure with the price of gas right now 1.95 I am not to concerned.

Ok these Gas MPG numbers are what your little computers are telling you. Right?
No way some of these numbers!
I have a 2500 HD diesel and towed about 4500lbs and got 14.5 at 65-70MPH. That's with Banks kit cold air intake and programmer. I thought that was awesome!! My V-10 Excursion was always around 9-10 with same load.
I always do the math at the pump. Take the Miles and divide by the gallons. My computer is always about 2MPG better then the math. I'm sure it has to do with tires and what not.
I'm also a long bed 4X4.
Man if the New trucks are getting the MPG you guys are talking about that's awesome!!

Mine isn't by the computer.. That's figuring miles driven to fuel consumed.

My dad has a stock 2015 Silverado 2wd with the 5.3. Saw him this weekend. Said he's getting 24.5mpg.

The new trucks get great mileage. I'd absolutely expect those numbers. Shit, my dad's old 2000 Silverado 1500 with a 5.3 2wd with 3.73 rear end it would get average of 17 to 18 mpg highway. No computer on them.

My '01 1500, 5.3, 6" lift, 35" tires 4x4 and 4.30 gears usually gets about 15 mpg.

GM has a $10.000 off incentive program rolling now.
COSTCO has furthur discounts on on GM trucks too.

Towing with a 2500 is so much nicer than a 1/2 ton I'll never go back.

Avoid the Ecoboost if your roll with Ford and plan to tow.

5.0 or Ecoboost. expect 9-12 towing. 15-16 all around. 18-20 Freeway.

That sounds about right...based on what my dad has told me about his Ecoboost F-150 4x4. Some of the trucks in this thread get better mileage than my little Focus..[emoji3]

Runs2rch's info is what I'm seeing with my 4x4 Screw Plat. Ecoboost and a bit better than what my previous GMC Sierra Denali was averaging. This is running 87 oct. not 91.

Some of you are driving amazing trucks that seem to have the ability self-replenish gas as they drive, or perhaps all your driving is done downhill ?? :D

I agree with the above if MPG matters it's the best option by far.

I have a 2013 Ram 1500 Crew Cab 4x4 5.7 with 6 speed 3.55 gears leveled on 33's E rated Toyo ( heavy as eff)! I get 12/17 city/highway 9-10 towing 25' travel trailer. Truck is never driven with a light foot.

Parents have 2015 Ram 1500 crew cab 2wd 5.7 8 speed 3.92 gears all stock. 14/18 city/highway

Brother has 2015 tundra 2wd when I ask him what he gets for mpg he just replied with "shity".....

My 14 f150 5.0 with 33 Toyo does about the same, but I want towing my enclosed trailer around 20 and highway in the mid 20's. [emoji108]

Can get around 20 if I crawl (70 or so)...

So true on all accounts, my 08 CC 5.3 would do the following, city 13-15, highway to Needles 17-19, Lake Mead, ALWAYS 19-22 and even better when Becki was driving, no clue why. Her lead foot in the city only effects the brakes.

Mine isn't by the computer.. That's figuring miles driven to fuel consumed.

He drives like my pops did then, RPM never above 2.5K, LOL

Back to the OP's question, I have access too both new gasser 2016 Chevy's, 5.3 and the 6.2, I don't see much difference in the city, maybe 2MPG better in the 5.3, I'll have to check the hwy MPG.

Try a programmer and we'll all the other goodies! It's made my truck a lot better all around! It really pulls nice! I get 17MPG when not towing! That doing my own Calc not the trucks computer. The trucks computer always says between 19-22MPG. It's cool to see but it's not accurate. Lol

Which programmer are you using? Other mods?

Once I get a home in AZ I plan on getting a new exhaust and programmer.
I don't worry too much with mpgs. It's mostly a toy hauler and home depot runner.
I will eventually rebuild the motor and wake it up a bit.

Remember, these newer trucks that are getting the fantastic mileage are just about all 6 speed transmissions and the GM 6L80 Trans makes a WORLD of difference over the old 4L60/80.

It's nice to see them putting 6 speeds in these trucks. They running 3.73's?

I have .410 rear diff too which hurts my mileage a bit.

Amen! The 4l80 was tough enough, but the 60 even built was not up to the task for frequent hauling. I serviced mine every 20k. Pan, and cooler upgrades it would run 225-230 only pulling my 210 up small hills. I even had 4.56's.

Why avoid the Ecoboost TPC? I just bought a used 12, and love it so far. Not towing much other than my boat around town or my enclosed trailer with buggy in it bother are around 5K lbs and so far so good, no complaints.

Wow, those are tall gears. That sure does help achieve those great mileage numbers.

I just can't get over how much these new trucks cost. I have no desire to get a newer one.
I like not having any car payments. :)

My wife does that with my truck. She doesn't understand the value of starting off slow and using the momentum.
No need to keep the foot on the gas all the time just to stomp on the brake. :)

You have good taste in trucks! Is your MPG manually calculated? Mine is much less per the computer.

I'm hand calcing but these guys claiming 20+ in a gas 1/2ton either drive like old ladies, using the dash indicated numbers or plain full of shit.
I don't see how you assume that. Shit, my uncle's 98 1500 with a 5.7 4x4, stock with 3.42's gets 20 mpg hand calculated every time he goes from Burbank up to Naci. He usually averages 80 mph too. If that old tech with the old MPI engine and shitty 4L60 can do that, what can't a new truck with direct injection and all the new, fancy tech with a 6 or even an 8 speed transmission get 22?

Your uncle is a lucky man never sell that truck.

I have had over 20 cars and trucks and I have NEVER had a single one get the advertised MPG. With the vehicle stock.

I lifted or lowered every single one and the mileage got worse on every single one I lifted. So I have a hard time believing that you can put heavier wheels and tires and get better than advertised. Buy a significant amount.

I would be a skeptic about anyone that got advertised mpg with a stock vehicle unless they drive the speed limit and take 2 blocks to get up to speed and coast a month mile before a stop sign.

Like I previously posted I have a 2013 ram with a 6 speed and my parents have a 2015 with a 8 speed and they only get me by a few mpg.

So yes I assume there is something wrong when a truck with similiar technology and modifications get better than advertised.

FWIW my brother in laws lifted excursion gets 28mpg just ask him.
