We have been developing a new stacker for one of the injection molding machines that produces round lids and I rolled it out for test yesterday.
The machine produces 6 lids a second (24 lids every 4 second cycle = 500,000 lids per day) and the older equipment we were running was not cutting it. Lots of parts on the floor and it took 2 people to run it. Now 1 person and near zero parts on the floor. I have a list of clean-up items to address when we pull it off for paint in a couple of weeks but it came out pretty good for a start.

I couldn't figure out how to combine the two videos so here are both in rather low definition quality.

Kind of hard to see it but at about the .06 mark in the second video is where we flip the lids to shinny side down.
Using a laser sensor and high speed air solenoid to flip them so they are all orientated when they get to the rollers.

Next project is arriving from Sweden in a couple of weeks, an in mold labeling 6 axis robot. Fun stuff.

Trick stuff!

I recently came out to AZ to work for a roto and injection molding outfit..
Everything outside of the machines are done by hand here... I miss automation.

Can create a machine to make 500000 lids a day. The teenagers can do the 1st but not the 2nd!

I can't do it either. Production lines fascinate me.

I'm still surprised the lids stayed up after the vacuum transfer :thumbsup
typically that roller conveyor is used to orientate preforms before the plastic bottles are blown. Seems like it works pretty good:thumbsup
