Fresh repair on the swim step, the tool needed some love and attention. Waxed to perfection.

What is the deadrise on this hull and are outboards an option? Not familiar with this boat.

I will get pics of lamination this week, there was an issue with the EPA belly tank fitting so we are getting another tank.

Deadrise: Twin step bottom with a pad 18 degrees out- 45 degrees at entry vee

Outboards: It would be very easy, we would just need a Stainless Marine bracket and a single 300/350 4stroke outboard would put the boat into the 60mph range with great efficiency.

Did Genesis did as well? I know they did the 23XS.

This one looks great.

Genesis had the mold when they were building them with Lightning boats in Riverside. The tool went back up to Lightning in SFV and never left.
I got the tool afterwards and the rest is history.

We had to dig through the shelves of templates. The 23 bulkhead templates and 247XS are the same, some floor pieces fit for both. The dash and deck bulkheads are the same. The 247XS uses different stringers due to the twin step hull and variable deadrise angles. That is the only difference.
Betto and I were laughing as the last 247XS built was around 2007.

The Cobra 23 Razor i think is a real 23' boat. Where as the 23 Extreme is really a 22' boat which was built by Extreme - DCB- ULTRA- Lightning- Genesis ETC. Jeff @ Cobra stretched the cockpit to a real 23', im not 100% sure but that is the word on the street.

A great boat with mild power, awesome for families and we are excited to build them again.

The only thing we changed to the layup is 100% vinylester and a single belly tank 48 gallons. The older generation boats all had twin saddle tanks above the floor.

Interesting to me, not being one that earns a living from the boat industry, how these molds bounce around to different brands.

Nice looking boat.

According to Goodtime$.. What you said here explains where this old came from...
" ..247XS- DCB/ Ultra/ Genesis Lightning and I grabbed it a couple years ago. Cleaned up the tool and we have 2 sold. First one gets taped and sprayed monday. I love this boat and I strongly feel it is the perfect family custom boat. .." From another thread.

Cool build. Thanls for sharing.
Was that same mold used for the DCB 24 Extreme?

YES. DCB Tooled it back in the day. We had to do a lot of work to restore the tool back to new condition. 247XS is onto interior and rigging, will have more pics shortly.

Something to think about since you guys are building this boat. My DCB extreme takes on a bit of water over the transom when I drop off of plane. I'm assuming that it's coming in the vents just above the swim deck. Mine has the handle/vent combo deals. I'm thinking about blocking them off and adding venting somewhere else. Just not sure where.

I have to drive like an older jet boat and power off gradually.

It also looks like the 6.2 allows for a flatter engine hatch which cleans up the lines of the boat considerably.

The 6.2 MAG in my boat performs great. It gives up 7~8 MPH to the 8.2/496 and uses about 25% less fuel.

That is a good entry level price point!

On the Cobra Razor 230 the handle/vents are mounted as high as possible on the transom. I have noticed the DCB/Eliminator/Ultra/Lightning/Genesis version of my boat the handle/vents are mounted just above the rub rail. I typically only get a couple teaspoons of water in the bilge unless it is particularly rough on the water and I might get as much as a cup. I would imagine I would get a lot more water in the boat in my handle/vents were mounted lower

New update: 8/4/16
Picked up the boat from Issac and Raul after they patterned the interior and built out the frames. Obviously no one saved the old 247 interior patterns so it took an extra 2 weeks.
Issac.jpg
Quick stop by Ron @ 13th Floor towers to match up a low pro tower with speakers and board racks. Tower at powdercoat.

Pretty sweet!

Try a 24 pitch as well. Mine responded really well to a 24. I bet the 22 will be better for tubing or skiing.
