I had her drive today. First time.
2 miles through a no wake...
Handling a single at idle kept her pretty busy. Lolol...

We launched @ winneconne. Went north through lake winneconne, into lake poygan, and up the wolf river to fremont. Met my folks for a beverage at a place called the Nauti turtle.

Awesome [emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]

Thanks Vic, it really was.
My mom is scheduled to have some MAJOR back surgery in early November, so it was kind of a last hurrah, before she get operated on. She had scoliosis when she was young, and spent her entire senior year of h.s. in the hospital. They put 2 stainless rods in her back, now it's time to replace them. She'll spend at least a month in an assisted living healing, and hopefully recovering.
She's having it done at the mayo clinic in Rochester MN.

It's going to be a really big deal, and it meant a lot to her to get out on the hula. She knows how much me and the kid's have into it.

And by the way, my mom's freakin awesome.

Jus sayin.

It's getting a little closer to becoming a solid, but for now, the water is still wet.
52 deg. and very calm.

Big silver lake, waushara co, WI.

this is a small (328 acres) lake, that's a little closer to home. From the above picture, you can just about see the other end.
However, the water is clear as a bell.

Creeping up on 72 now.
A buddy filed the burrs off my dinged up 23 tempest.

Was finally able to get some data logging completed also. Trying to get a handle on using this software.

I wish I knew how to mess w my boat. I know it has more in it but I don't know how to get it. Going to be paying someone real soon to help me out but I know it will still have more after that

Vic, the thing is, you bought a boat that suits your family and your needs.
This little baja was a pile when I bought it.
I've been working on for a year and a half. I got to use it for 3 months last summer, and while we got to use it, it was incredibly frustrating for me because it didn't do everything I wanted it to do. (Read 70 mph )

So last winter, is when I decided to GUT the damn thing for the 2nd time. It's been a ton of work. I'd really think long and hard about what your goals are.

You should look at trading it in for a DCB.[emoji106][emoji1]

Working on getting my hands on a -2 shortie and the appropriate wheel to turn.

We'll see how it all shakes out.

We are having an incredibly warm fall.
1st weekend in November usually doesn't involve boating.
Folks are usually putting the final touches on firewood for the winter. MID 60's this weekend!

Had a few minutes to sneak off to the lake before dark.
(Yes, they pull the docks out for winter. The ice really raises hell with 'em if you leave 'em in.)

On my way down to the water, I called the body shop where the hula get her paint job. I'm friends with the owner. Asked if Jeremiah, (his painter) was about wrapped up for the day, and of he'd be able to meet me at the launch. It's only a mile from his shop, so no biggie. Bossman let him out of work early, so I took him for a spin, to show my appreciation for the fantastic job he did. 20161104_163626.jpg

Did my good deed for the year.
This dude ran out of gas. We towed him about 2 miles back to the fuel dock.
Yes, I held the rope the whole time. I didn't want his scratchy crappy old anchor rope touching my paint...
Also, it wanted to sink if it was slack.

So I've decided to replace the head unit with this little gizmo. It will plug directly into the amplifiers. I stream pandora while on the water, and having bluetooth will eliminate the aux cable.

I'll be mounting this garmin gpsmap 5208 in place of the old head unit. It'll work great as a gps speedo also :)

I did the exact same thing but put the blue tooth unit output into a cheap Clarion equalizer and then sent the equalizer outputs to the amps. Allows me to quickly & easily control volume, sub volume and adjust the sound to my liking. I would suggest it so you don't have to always grab your phone to control volume. My only gripe is how small & close together the knobs are.

This place is on Silver Lake, just outside Wautoma, Wi.
A typical Wisconsin "supper club". If you don't know what a supper club is,... 2 things.

1. I'm sorry....
2. Google it. :)

I did my first resort stay this summer with the Baja, I've never done the whole lodge, boat slip before and I can easily say I am hooked. Up here on the big lakes this is pretty common, coming from the PNW and mostly owning flats and jets usually wasn't an option....I'm digging it.

We stayed 3 days and plan to do a week this next summer, the bigger boat sucked up what would have left my flat on the trailer.

Had 2 friends along and already have 8 boats and friends for the next time...good times

Got you're package out yesterday.

You're not building a 406, it's a 409. 4.167" bore x 3.75" stroke. First time in your life 3" might make a difference!:D

So, tomorrow I'm heading over to the engine shop.
I've been told to bolt the deck plates on it, torque the main caps down, and start measuring. Fill out the build sheet.

First one. I'm pretty excited to understand what all goes into it. I'll document the entire process here. :D

Merry Christmas RDP.

As if I needed another project to add to the list, I decided to finally get around to painting the walls in my shop. This is just the primer coat, I'll be topping it with sherwin williams tile clad water based epoxy. I've applied this coating to other projects, and I'll be VERY happy with it.

Hardest part is moving all the crap out of the way...

Installed the deck plate. Torqued twice. First to 60lb, then 70lb.

Measuring approximately 1" down from the top of each cylinder, and in 4 places. Front to back, top to bottom, then in an X pattern. I have 1-7 measured already..
When I flip it over and finish the other side, I'll post a picture of the sheet I wrote all the measurements down on.
